Just got a chance to read the manifesto. Thanks for bringing it up. He writes as a very intelligent, leftist and pissed off man. Surprisingly rational for someone who flew a plane into a building. There isn't anything in it about socialized healthcare though. I didn't see anything saying our forefathers were wrong either.

Here's the rest. (Removed the section of the tax code due to character limit)

Well, that's not really what it sounded like in your first post when you only called the guy a liberal fanatic. I don't think it's harsh to say a murderer with a political point to make might be better off dead like some of the other people that have flown planes into buildings. But I'd be surprised if there wasn't at least some sort of mental illness involved here, and that's where the prison or loony bin become a bit more appropriate. I'd have to be pretty sure about someone's mental state before I wished death upon them, even for something as terrible as this.

liberal fanatic? no. he was obviously anti-government no matter which party was in office.
snowbunny- you can think bush was wrong and still be on the right. alot of people do. even sean hannity and rush talk about bush's out of control budget(sometimes). this is the problem with american politics, its so rooted in being on one side or the other, and not about siding with common sense. its a horrid affair. liberalism is not a bad thing. conservatism is not a bad thing. extremism is, on both sides of the political spectrum. |

Wow, that was a pretty crazy read, thanks for posting it. I think many people would agree with a lot of the things he says in there, it's just hard for me to connect the rational, eloquent part with a person who can crash a plane into an occupied building. Suicide as a statement against what you perceive as oppression is one thing, but trying to take other people with you is quite another.

but seriously... he is creepy. "Violence not only is the answer, it is the only answer..." "I saw it written once that the definition of insanity is repeating the same process over and over and expecting the outcome to suddenly be different. I am finally ready to stop this insanity. Well, Mr. Big Brother IRS man, let's try something different; take my pound of flesh and sleep well," That was just weird.. Violence doesn't solve anything, it just causes more chaos. He must have been in some serious trouble with the IRS and just went insane. @rgrwilco: I'm not strictly to one side but I lean more to the right. Ha. The whole thing was a bit creepy, but at least to me it was because I knew what action he was going to take because of how he felt. There are probably plenty of other people from all different parts of the political spectrum writing things advocating violence against the government right now, but nobody pays much attention to them because they usually just talk. If you feel that you have no option to change the way your country works through the normal political processes like this guy did, desperation and whatever mental issues are going on could very easily make violence the best answer. Sounds like he would have welcomed chaos as the only way to tear down what he felt was so wrong with this country. I would just move to Australia, but that's just me...

Yeah, well, let's hope all those corrupt bastards get voted outta office. So, instead of violence - registering to vote and actually voting could really change things. Haha. I think I would move to Australia or Canada - you never hear anything outta them. They just chill. :P Lol. Off topic but Mitt Romney is pretty funny.. I've seen a lot of people commenting on what this guy did. First, though, I think it's utterly ridiculous to call him a "terrorist". Terrorist is defined as someone who "terrorizes or frightens others"...this dude was trying to make a point about how broken our gov't has become. Also, in all the articles I've read, not one mentions anybody dying from his actions. Many were injured, and two were in critical condition.
It's a shame that this dude did this as a last resort. He was 54 years old trying to make a living, but getting screwed over. He admitted in the first few paragraphs of trying to dupe the IRS with his pals by using the tax laws against the system and failing at it. After that, he was just unlucky enough to make one financial mistake after another. Suicide should never be the answer, but as SnoWolf mentioned, it's getting to the point that a lot of folks see no other option available to them. “Whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute new government...” -Jefferson I do have a question, though: If this dude was in such financial dire straits, how did he have the money to own a home, support a family, and own a fuckin' AIRPLANE? At least now that he's dead he doesn't have to worry about taxes... |
