The fundraising efforts by the RNC have just been "outed". Read about it here.

But it's getting worse. This is the worst it's been since McCarthy, with a little Orwell worked into the mix.

Get completely off topic for a minute with me here. There was a Japanese backcountry video that was on Youtube a while back. I originally found it on this forum. 3 or 4 guys are hiking up a hill and dig in to check the avy danger. They giggle and say "Moderato...mmm...moderato" then ride down the backcountry. It driving me nuts that I can't find this vid. Any ideas?

No but if you find it let me know. Might be pretty cool. I keep saying I'm going over to Tower Records in Shinjuku to get these but haven't made it yet. They look awesome and remind me of a more extreme version of what we did to go surfing when I was young.

Politics as usual. Both sides do this.

Yes, but both don't invent "death squads", etc. If this stood out, it would be humorous. Sadly, it's par for the course. The dirty tricks, innuendo, etc from Republicans (not conservatives) since Obama's election are way over the top.

In the original health care bill, there was a provision for a panel that would determine if people should receive additional care or not. Even Obama had a quote where he said that sometimes people should just receive more pain killers rather than treatment. They may not have been called "Death Panels" but they were real and will most likely be a necessary evil to contain costs in any health care plan that is passed.
I don't see how this is different than the "Bush Lied, People Died" comments or any of the many remarks made by Democrats about Iraq/Afghanistan (which we are still in with more troops than ever). |

I live in Japan. I had a near-fatal heart attack in Japan. My dog let me know it was a heart attack but that's another story. The base hospital where I live couldn't handle that so I was sent to a "socialist medicine" hospital near the base.
The medical care was extraordinary, easily as good as what I get in the states. From a complete blockage on the right and approaching death, I went to snowboarding a few months later. For me, it's fascinating. People say you can't ride Flow bindings in deep powder. I live in Japan and ride deeper powder than most folks will ever see. Say you don't like Flows because "x" - that's cool but don't make stuff up. Now, I hear from Faux News addicts that government medicine doesn't work. H'mmm....I've seen it work and save my life. Talk about the legitimate problems - great. When Iraq first started, lots of lies were told by the Shrub Administration. About a year after it started, I went for a summer vacation in a tiny Texas beach town and stayed in a mom & pop motel where I've always stayed there. When she found out I was now working for the military, the proprietor-ess remarked how wonderful it was that women in Iraq didn't wear burkhas any longer. I asked her where she learned about that. She, of course, said Faux News. I pointed out first that all of my neighbors had been to Iraq. Then, I explained that before we invaded, almost no women in Iraq wore burkhas but now they did. She was stunned. Here I was, a known patriot (I am a patriot), telling her the truth. I don't know how she reconciled all that - probably thought I was turning subversive. America should be a land of differences where people come together on areas of common interest. Now, where it's Limbaugh, Rove, or whomever, it's a land where opposition is attacked on a personal level and lies are the franca linqua of the day. To me, that's treasonous. As much as I disliked Shrub, I didn't attack his personality. Of course, it was really easy to attack him on the issues.
