PPG paints has done away with their metal cans because of the cost of the metal lids. Which by the way seal over and over again.
Now what they have done is gone to plastic cans and lids that DO NOT RESEAL after adding tint. So to solve this problem they send a second lid with every can.Yes thats right two lids for every can of paint sold. THATS REAL GREEN ( soo stupid ) What is worse than the two lids is the second one has no product code or batch number so the paint CAN NOT BE TRACKED FOR A RECALL.Their new label says Gone green or something like that. You tell me how a metal can that is 100% recyclable and seals with one lid with a better quality of paint is somehow worse for the environment than a plasic can and two plastic lids that have no recycle number? I called the company to voice my concerns about the cans and quality of the paint and they told me that if I was having problems that maybe I should not buy their paint ![]() This has been going on for one year. They have already done a full redesign on tha lids once for leaking. Hey PPG I don't want free cans of bad paint to replace the bad paint that I just bought. Wow as if they told you not to buy their product!
![]() I would never use their product again if that's the kind of customer service they are providing. If I have to use a customer service for a product it better be damn good if not they can forget me ever choosing their product again. For example I once had an Acer computer it gave me troubles called up customer service they replaced my computer. I know their computers aren't the most reliable but they have quality customer service.

first off... 25 a gallon?.. shit! i'm a painter.. maybe things up here in canada are different, but for me, a gallon is generally 50 for a tint. retail about 70... and thats the inexpensive stuff!
i will say that i haven't had too many issues with the plastic lids... they don't have that satisfying feel when firmly locked on, but i find they close pretty well... mine is sherwin williams, but still the same principal i would assume. but then again, mine is just a platic lid, still a metal gallon. and i wash the shit out of em and keep em for cutting cans. gotta do my part! another douchey company... locally a beer company has tried to say they are the greenest because they only make cans rather than "re-use dirty bottles up to 16 times like the other companies".... ummm... recycling is great... but reducing and re-using are both better options which the bottles do... and the glass bottles once done with still get recycled. its boxer beer by the way.. just in case you ever get a chance to NOT buy their stuff... (oh, the beer isn't very good either... its drinkable, but thats about it)
