What else is new? The entire diamond market is ludicrously inflated by De Beers. The rock on my wife's finger isn't worth a fraction of what I paid for it, but since the market decided that diamonds are the most precious stone out there (even though they are FAR from the rarest) I had to fork over a couple paychecks.

Ugh, I hate capitalism...
