First of all let me clear up some shit about this story, it is 2 blocks from where the towers were, are we going to say no Muslims can own property in the area? There's a mosque 12 blocks away, should we tear that down because of 9/11? Second, it is not specifically a mosque. It is a cultural center. Let's also add that there's over 100 mosques in New York City. While many of you know how I stand on religion, I don't see the problem with this if they approve others. We seem to pay more attention to the "foreign religion" extremists and ignore our own countries religious wackos. Yes it was a horrible day, yes it was sad for all those people and the ones affected, but I'm sick and fucking tired about people using 9/11 as an excuse for a bunch of bullshit.

Oh no, I just realized something, maybe a Muslim will work in the Freedom Tower, we're doomed!

Ah ya I thought this was the attempt at building on ground zero itself. I know they were building shit when I was there and I don't personally approve...

2 block away mosque, I don't care.

But I would rather not see a building ever erected on ground zero. Especially some building that would have profiting businesses and such in it.

If you've ever been to NY and ground zero, I think you would get it.

New York city is so packed with businesses on top of businesses next to businesses that ground zero left with nothing on it is a very powerful thing. It's about remembering what happened and I see no better way then by leaving the space undeveloped. It's also a tomb/burial ground in a sense.... There may not be any bodies at the location anymore but many many Americans died there. They should be honored.

I grew up nearby, I've seen it, and I continue to see it regularly. I've got no problems with another building going up. I think I speak for all NYers when I tell the rest of the country to go and personalize some other fucking tragedy - preferably one you actually had some sort of stake in or actually witnessed on something other than TV.

It's a giant hole in the ground in lower Manhattan. Unless the country wants to start sending New York State the money that a large office building there would otherwise generate to not build anything there, they can go fuck themselves. Our state already has a high enough tax burden without letting racists or the part-time 'victims' of 9/11 (most of whom we already support with our taxes) across the country have their way.

I agree with the conservative principles and think the government should stay the hell out of it. If the muslims have a legal right to build there, they have a legal right to build there.

If we start waving our horrendously misspelled signs around and disciminating based on race and religion, we're no better than the teabaggers and their extremist counterparts in the mid-east.
