The War Logs - Interactive Feature - NYTimes.com
Afghanistan: The war logs | World news | guardian.co.uk Both articles about the enormous amount of documents that wikileaks made public. Talking basically about the clusterfuck that is afghanistan. I haven't read through all of the articles yet, but I'm sure it will prove to be dispiriting and disgusting. |

The answer is not, not to start wars dood....
Wars happen and usually it's perfectly justified. Not saying this war is justified but it is a war none the less and it's not going to be a perfectly executed chess game 100% of the time. And who the hell knows why we're still in this war... I disagree with more then a few things that our government does but it seems to me that there's a reason we don't know about, that's keeping this war going. Obama wanted to stop the war almost immediately and his tune changed for some reason. But to pick on our soldiers for making mistakes or accidentally killing innocents isn't fair. It's going to happen, it's war. Our troops as a whole aren't out randomly just shooting innocent civilians for the fun of it. Support the troops not the war |

About the war itself. Anyone with HALF a brain knows that ending terrorism is a pipe-dream. The day I meet someone who seriously believes you can stop terror across the globe I will take a photo of them and post it online as the stupidest person who ever walked the earth. Bush had this war planned in advance. They tried to kill his daddy and he wanted revenge, to carry out his fathers legacy no matter who he fucks over in the process. No exit plan, no realistic goal. The issue is we go into a country, shoot the shit out of people and expect to kill all of them till no terrorist (or photographer) is left. Yeah that won't make more people to fight against us will it? We leave the country now, we all know the Iraqis and Afgans don't have the willpower to fight them. No one wants to be president in Iraq because they know there's a price on their head once the US is gone, and Hamid Karzai threatens to join the Taliban when he gets scolded about the way he's running the country....great. Right, there must be some hidden reason why we are still there. The terrorists will win if they decide to take over Iraq or Afganistan once we are gone, they will recruit more, plan more and have a lot more money than they have now. So basically we are fucked, Bush got us into a position we can't get out of. Last edited by Deviant; 07-27-2010 at 09:11 PM. |

I completely agree with you. I personally would love there to be no wars ever, especially not wars that are driven by a lust for both power and economic control that put our soldiers in harms way. Unfortunately that's not reality and while we may think we can actuall do something to change it by changing the elected officials who make these decisions, the truth is that all politicians are the same regardless of the party they represent and will always do what is in their best interest and will keep them in office. I have multiple friends who have done tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan and while I hope they come home safe, they are there knowing full well what they signed up for and the risks that they are taking with their lives.
