It's called highly unregulated capitalism. The reality is that, yes, the less you regulate, tax, and penalize the private sector essentially the cheaper they can make their products and the cheaper the price the american public pays. But it always comes at a price, because private corporations are run to make as much profit as possible, which means outsourcing, replacing jobs with machines, and cutting corners.
If the technology was available they would replace everyone with robots in the blink of an eye, they don't give a fuck what ends up happening to the average american. Some companies do, but the problem is that now these huge international corporation just assimilate the little guys into their empire, allowing them to have huge control over a single market, or multiple markets. Because our country has indescribably supported giant corporations and chains like Walmart, Home Depot, and Mcdonalds what we are getting is a cheaper product with a higher reprocussive value.
We as consumers have the power to change all this simply with what we buy, but most Americans are so complacent now that telling them not to go to Walmart would be blasphemy. Shit, it's actually pretty difficult even if you are conscious of the situation to avoid buying crap Hecho en China or panned by a major corporation.
It all started with Reagan, but when will it end?
Oh, and to get back on the topic of the discussion, they LET illegal immigration happen to a certain degree because they want the cheap labor. It's all part of the above statement.
