Clinic patients 'stunned' by rocket attack - Israel News, Ynetnews

But wait, isn't Israel supposed to be the bad guy?

Now I'm confused

I'm very confused.
Are you an alt? Do you even snowboard? Why is this your first post out of everything? You realize this is a snowboarding forum primarily and not a political forum right?

I'm all for both sides of the story, but in all honesty I'm confused why you posted this...

If there are any old timer SB.com V1 people around they should recognize me.

Now either take part in the political discussion or go away.

Considering that anything regarding Israel is usually a pretty sensitive issue (including on these forums) I found it strange that someone's first post would be about it on a snowboarding site. In my personal opinion I think it was legitimate to question your intentions given the situation, but if you're just trying to raise a discussion on the issue that's fine. No need to take it personally.

It is like a parent who thinks that if they correct or admonish a misbehaving child that somehow that is not showing love.

A true ally will use a bit of tough love when it is called for and that is exactly what some of us are calling for. Israel is no different that other countries; sometimes they fuck up. When that happens, a friend should call them on it. Israel makes its own situation more difficult when it crosses the line and it endangers the United States as well as we become the target of terrorism.

I love how some people; you may or may not be one of them, act like they speak for ALL Israelis in subjects like this. It is arrogant as fuck to do so. Just as in America, Israel is a nation that is politically divided. Many Israelis who love their country are very critical of the actions their government takes quite often. Maybe you need to let the Israeli voices of opposition speak for themselves once in awhile as this is where Israel`s own enlightenment and change is going to come from, not some American know it all trying to speak for them....

And for what its worth, snowboard.com is dead and V1 has been dead a very long time. You are welcome to be a part of our community but rest assured, things run a damn site different on this forum and the behavior of the people there is not welcome or tolerated here. Civil, respectful debate is practiced on this site.....

While it's been a little while since I've checked the numbers, I remember reading the list of countries America "supports" (I can't remember if it was straight up money or if it calculated cost based on goods given). Israel was one of the highest (at a damn high amount), but there were several other nations in the Middle East that we donate a pretty comparable amount to. Given the present situation, do you think that it would be prudent to not only cut funding to Israel but the other nations as well?
(I can try to find the actual figures later, but I got class in 2 hours so I'm going to grab a quick wink beforehand)

That particular piece of the world has been at war since the beginning of civilization and will most likely be at war off and on until the end of civilization as we know it.

I strongly believe that America supports Israel for two main reasons. One, we were a big part of their creation after WWII and we feel an obligation to help them. Two, we realize that if we pulled our support, the rest of that region would probably eventually jump on them like a pack of wild dogs and ignite WWIII.

well that and there's a lot of powerful jews in the government and in control of a lot of money. And the religious wackos think that Israel will be the site of Jesus's 2nd coming.

For some reason none of you have commented on the article posted on my first post. Is it that you have double standards? When an Israeli rehab center is hit by a rocket from Gaza, unprovoked by the way, what is the justification? Even in an all out war, attacking a rehab center should be wrong, right?

Oh it isn't? I believe it is. Israel is the ONLY democratic state in the middle east, Hence the US's support of it. The list of differences gos on and on but then you would only label me as a self appointed spokesman for all of Israel.

If all the neighboring countries "jumped on" Israel, I trust history will repeat itself and Israel would survive. i.e. The War of Independence of 1948 (after the UN's partition plan was approved, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria attacked Israel. Israel is still here.), The Six Day War of 1967 (When Egypt, Jordan and Syria launched a combined, multi-fronted war on Israel. Israel is still here), Yom Kippur war of 1973, etc.

But yes, it would be a lot harder for Israel to defend itself without the US's support. Just a reminder, it is the US's best interest to keep Israel in the middle east, as it is it's only ally in the region.

Now in order not to have another of those empty "Israel is good/bad/worse/awesome" discussions, I offer you an interesting article to read. Notice who the writer is:

Demonizing Israel is bad for the Palestinians
