Default Firefighting - teabagger style

These are the same guys who want you to kiss their ass and call them 'hero' because the FDNY did something indescribably brave over 9 years ago.

Firefighters Watch As Home Burns: Gene Cranick's House Destroyed In Tennessee Over $75 Fee (VIDEO)

EDIT: Remember, these are the actions of heroes.

Default America is fucked

This is one of the most disgusting and embarrassing stories involving my profession I've ever heard.

This is the first time I've ever heard of a private fire department, but the idea scares the shit out of me because it allows for greed to dictate who recieves an essential service. I can guarantee you many other folks outside of this county without the means of paying (whether because of poverty or unemployment, mental health issues, procrastination, or simply being unaware of this retarded policy) will find themselves in the same position. Not only for structure fires, but for natural disasters, car accidents, medical emergencies, CO/CO2/LNG/Popane gas leaks, and technical rescue emergencies like river or collapse just to name a few.

From the side of emergency workers, this as well, is a dangerous concept. It allows for anyone to not pay for service, which means that a department won't know what kind of budget they have to work with which means equipment, training, and manpower will be severely lacking. Which is the reason they are legally allowed to stand back and do nothing. Funding for Police, Fire, and EMS MUST come from municpal governments through taxes.

However, regardless of budget constraints or financial policies, we all have a moral and ethical obligation to protect lives and property, on duty and off.

this is exactly what would happen if our public services were privatized. I bet the republicans spooge themselves over the idea.

And no self-respecting professional firefighter wants his ass kissed. We hate the build up and the unearthly expectations that come with it, and we hate being in the media (usually it means you're paying a celebrity tax to the rest of the shift in the form of beer after work if you're even recognized in the background at a fire or something on the news or in the paper). It's not the reason we do the job, it's the job itself. But yes, the 343 lost on 9/11 were heros.

"Sorry Maam, you didn't send your monthly check to the post office, I'm afraid were going to have to burn your mail and packages"

"Well, seeing as how you are two payments late on your child's public education bill, I'm afraid Billy is going to have to be expelled. Maybe he can find a job at Burger King."

Taking away social services just sets the country up EVEN MORE for the rich to continue being rich and everyone else continuing to be their slaves. I can't believe the Teapartiers think this kind of "La Carte" ideology is going to work out in any way. Oh wait, I forgot, they only care about themselves, and anyone who isn't with them can go rot in the ground.

Seriously though, you can tell these group of guys were flexing their dicks to make an example of this guy.

She and the rest of the teabaggers aren't so funny anymore are they? More frightening than comical hyjinx and sound bites

They really should have a pay as you go service if this is how they want to play it

They pretty much do. They're called volunteer departments and though they try hard, training, equipment, and personnel is usually subpar
