not political but this seems to be where this stuff goes. Did any of you guys see this? very interesting and lets face it, its narrated by Morgan Freeman!
Sparks a lot of questions in my mind though.
the test subject in the video is a "believer". she admittedly believes in a God or higher power. I wonder what would happen if this experiment was conducted on an atheist or an agnostic (or both). how would the results vary?
Why is our brain programmed this way?
i wonder if the sealed chamber plays a role? anyone familiar with the hypnotic affects of an isolation tank? its essentially sensory deprivation. not exactly the same but its completely dark, and i would guess the temp in the chamber is at or around 98.6
This isn't really "new" news. It's been mentioned a couple of times in threads here as a matter of fact. The technique is basically to use strong focussed magnetic fields to disrupt normal operation of specific parts of the brain.
Coffee is your friend. Everyone else is an acquaintance.
A friend of mine actually worked under Dr. Persinger and experienced it first hand back in the early 90s when he was going to Laurentian University for behavioural neuroscience. He described a similar experience as the subject did in the show, but at the time all me and our other friends could say is, "You let someone experiment with bombarding your brain with a magnetic field?!?" Although the field strength is low we all thought it was pretty nuts he participated it it. Then fast forward years later I watched the show and there it is.
Interesting work no doubt, I'd like to give it a try now.
