I hope it goes through, once the revenue is realized you'll see other states follow suit, not to mention other countries. I'd finally be able to open up a legit business growing, and be one happy camper.

Last I checked it looks like it's going to pass. Of course the old guard is going to be against it. Too bad they don't really have much in the way of resources to fight it minus a court challenge. Something that the Feds may be reluctant to do with all the recent battles on State vs Federal rights.
Once Cali legalizes it other states will follow. The landscape is going to be much different in 10 years. Hell even 5 years down the road you'll see a lot of states on this bandwagon. Of course Cali still has to pass it first. |

I agree. I'm just very disappointed that the Obama administration is poised to fight this tooth and nail. Pretty much my only hopes for this administration were increased focus on renewable energy and a soft stance on marijuana. So far, I've been disappointed on both fronts.
I hope this passes and I hope other states follow suit. The Great Depression helped repeal Prohibition and my one glimmer of hope for "The Great Recession" is that it will help end the war on marijuana. |

Well the Feds won't be able to just say they can't do it. It'll be a classic case of State vs Federal rights.
On these types of cases it comes down to which offers the "citizen more protection?" The feds will argue that it makes it less safe for other states and within the state of California. California will argue that the marijuana drug trade will be licensed and monitored. Plus you won't have citizens going to jail for using it. It'll be up to the courts to decide who offers greater protection. Though again, I can also see the Feds having a lot of bark but not really wanting to bite into this issue. This is a case where if they lost, it would open the flood gates on them. Not sure if they want that. |
