Found an article I found would spark a good debate here:
Well, today was the day I guess I'm no longer going to consider flying......

yeah saw this as a blog post yesterday.
so kind of conflicted. on one side. I don't really care about the porno machine. on the other, i know that all this security is retarded because they wouldn't be sneaking stuff onto planes in this manner anyway. and obviously all this bullshit is an affront to our civil liberties, and the question really is: where will it stop? |

I'm also concerned about the safety of the scanner. A poster below that guy mentioned it. We don't know how that scanner works or what type of radiation it is giving off. X-Rays are bad you. So is this one. I mean, I'm not talking about being afraid to die from one scan, but why go through it if causes any harm? I don't voluntarily go get X-Rays for no reason. They gain nothing from scanning my naked body except maybe some female officers might get off on it... or puke whatever

And when a plane finally does go down, the same people bitching about invasive screens are going to be the same people asking why the TSA was asleep at the wheel and why they didn't do more.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

He was smart to bring up someone hiding a bomb in their rectum, will it be expected that people will have a rectum exam in the future if someone blows a plane up this way? Of course not, there are many other ways of screening people, the Israelis have been doing it for years without this body scanner. Bombers exhibit signs of nervousness that can be spotted with proper training and multiple security check points.
Not to mention that it's common sense to want to know the health effects of such a machine before we submit willingly to thousands of people being scanned by it every day. I'm all for security, but I'm not having someone's fingers up my ass because I want to go to Mexico during the winter.
