What you are not seeming to want to accept is that while some people do deserve what they get as you suggest, too many people are being used to line the pockets of these people. This kind of thing goes against the very fundamentals of western democracy not just America's Constitution. Have you ever read the Magna Carta???

Who said anything about starting a revolution??? As citizens in a democracy it is our right and our responsibility to ensure that democracy is upheld and that seek redress for wrongs. The first step in that process is bringing things like this to the attention of our fellow citizens so there is public outcry and a push to make our elected representatives uphold their duties to us and our Constitutional Republic. Sometimes bitching amongst ourselves IS a solution.

Your passivity and acceptance of tyrrany is alarming.
I did, I just didn't really want to, for lack of a better term, go there. The incredibly small percentage of people who are wrongfully put in jail are hardly contributing to the over-crowded prisons. I agree those cases are out there, but I'm not worried about it happening to me.

The only confusion I have from your post is the bolded claim. Are those people you're talking about the ones who go to prison for illegal drug offenses and similar charges, or are you talking about the purely innocent people put in prison? I'm assuming you're talking about the latter, in which case my previous paragragh applies. If you are talking about the former, then a drug legality debate is on the horizon, and nothing spells dead end like a drug debate.

If your opinion of America is tyranny then I am very sorry you feel that way. I wish I knew what to tell you.

What you do not seem to understand is lessons from history. Most people in 1930's Germany did not see tyranny until it was too late to do anything about it. I see you as the typical American who has forgotten that freedom and democracy is not something you can take for granted; to maintain it we must always be vigilant and take action when it becomes threatened. Tyranny almost never comes crashing through the gates of democracy, it is usually a cancer that erodes it from within.

You express the belief that you have nothing to be concerned about because it won't happen to you. I think 6 million Jews might have once shared this false belief. If we ignore little abuses to our democracy now, there won't be anyone left when they finally get around to you. A violation against one of us is a violation against all of us.

You also said it is a really small percentage. Not really so. I suggest you do some research about our penal system. Due to mandatory sentencing laws for drug crime, we are letting murderers, rapists and pedophiles out onto the streets to make room fir these new inmates. This case is simply one of the more outrageous ones that got media attention. Stories like this are prevelent throughout the land on smaller scales. Police shootings and civil rights abuses are at an historic level and the trend is getting worse. I lived in Arizona and that state's largest economic engine is private prisons; surpassing mining and agriculture combined. Laws and policies are enacted to increase incarceration rates due to heavy lobbying. In Citizens United Case, the US Supreme Court has now opened the flood gates of lobbyist money to further buy our government from We The People. Sorry bro but you are living in a bubble.

Understand the difference between saying we ARE in tyranny from warning against BECOMING one!
Comparing a girl who went to juvie for making a fake myspace account to the Holocaust? YA OK BRAH

You didn't answer the one simple question I asked by the way. I'll continue to live in my bubble, while you continue to lose sleep over every single social and legal injustice that takes place in america until everything is running just the way you like it.

This statement circumnavigates right back to my original point: If the dumb pieces of shit would have put down the god damn joint in the first place we wouldn't be having this conversation. People bitch and moan about facing the penalties of clearly breaking the law but all of a sudden it's tyranny and unjust simply because they disagree with the law. I love it.

So let's keep just doing nothing about everything, because that's what we do best. By the time the volcano erupts we will all be dead anyways. Fuck the future, let's all just cover ourselves in oil and have a giant electric orgy, "because nothing really matters",(Queen)

Not my problem, I'm just getting my own, Jack.

I guess this is what Americans want?

Maybe we deserve to have our society crumble... I like to think differently, but when no one wants to do a fucking thing until mercenaries come to their door demanding "protection fees from ProtectoCorp, or else", I guess this is what you get.

After reading this entire thread, all I can say is that this is by far the best solution for our shitty penal system in America. Snowolf has hit the proverbial nail on the head. If this solution was implemented, the people of America would have a fair chance if they ever found their way into the penal system. As for Phenom, since you can't see the flaws in our system and feel that the laws are so easy to not break, good luck to you if you ever run down a pedestrian in your car because you were distracted by your Big Mac or Frappuccino. I can guarantee that your eyes would open a little more to the injustice of our so called justice system.

I am not comparing or attempting to equate the Holocaust with this girl's situation. I was trying to get you to try to understand that the road to tyranny starts out very subtle. It's like the proverbial frog in the pot of boiling water. My point that obviously escaped you was that the tyranny in Germany that became the holocaust started out very benignly and the people did not recognize it until too late.

Again you seem to be unable to grasp the concept of variance; with you it's all or nothing. If I say to be vigilant and exercise our rights under democracy, you take that as " loosing sleep over every legal and social injustice" honestly, you seem to lazy to uphold your responsibities as a citizen in a democracy. You are living in a self delusional bubble, refusing to see the world for what it is and too lazy to put forth the effort to preserve it.
Oh now I get it. Yeah, we are definitely on the road to to next Holocaust. The evidence of that is overwhelming!

Your paranoia is alarming.

Get off the forum, you should be out revolting right now. I applaud your Go Get 'Em attitude. So how much progress have you made so far?

I bet it's the same as me and my apathetic attitude.

So the only thing I know about US prisons is what I have seen on that show on lockdown. If that is anything to go by there is a massive problem! They showed a prison in Arizona where the guys live in tents as there is no room for them in the main part of the prison. It seems every episode shows a prison with a similar situation where a gym or some other building has been turned into a giant cell.
But hey if its run like a buisness why would the people running the show have any reason to change it?

Didn't notice this until now.

Of all the laws to break that's the one you pick? lawl. Anyone who runs down a pedestrian deserves whatever punishment their dumbass is given.

Now I want a big mac.
