Incarceration Up, Education Down: America’s Cannibalistic Profiteering
A link from reddit this morning:
Incarceration Up, Education Down: America’s Cannibalistic Profiteering | NEWS JUNKIE POST |
I am sad to say that we are heading down the route of private prisons aswell, i am whole heartedly against them even if they save the tax payer money. We are also headed towards possible legalisation of weed which i believe will cut prison numbers remarkably. Does anyone know the percentage locked up in the states for marijuana based crimes? i would be interested to know.

Everyone knows that a poorly educated population is very easy to control, and looks towards authority to know what is right and what is wrong, rather then using own/collective judgement.
GO GO DARK AGES! |
private prisons def do not lower costs, as they have a reason to imprison more people and keep them longer.

5% of the world's population and 25% of its inmates.
Oh, but we'd rather spend 2 years forging a new healthcare bill and then the next 2 trying to repeal it. That's a much better use of our time. And if Americans start to get wise to the fact that our government is an inept, lumbering oaf....we'll just go to war with some nation they can't find on a map! :D:thumbsup: |
Rabble rabble rabble...
Any solutions or just general GOP-esque griping? |
:dunno: Show me where I said solutions are needed.
As a person who hasn't actually bitched about this topic, I figured that at least some of the people with the criticism would also have a list of suggestions or solutions in the hand that wasn't pointing the finger everywhere. There's only so far 'America sucks' *record skip sound* 'America sucks' *record skip sound* 'America sucks' *record skip sound* 'System is fucked up' *record skip sound* 'System is fucked up' *record skip sound* is gonna get you before any semi-astute observer will turn around and ask you 'Well, that the hell would YOU do then?' Weren't you criticizing your boys in the GOP for the got zero plans approach too? |
Central Maine could use another prison or two -- I don't care if they're private or not. As it stands, the state lets multiple-conviction child molesters, multiple-conviction rapists, and multiple-conviction drunk drivers out as soon as possible to create room. Raped a 13 year old? 30 years all but 4 suspended!
But hey, at least they get rehabilitated before they're released right? ... Right? :( |

Sure munky, here's some suggestions - stop the war on drugs. Stop putting people in jail for possession. quite letting corporations and special interest groups write laws.
Those two right there would make a large positive impact upon society. |
