Hi Snowolf! As I had promised, I writing this message.

Who was J. Stalin? Was he a bloody tyrant? I will try to make some calculations.

1930 179
1931 212
1932 268,7
1933 334,3
1934 510,307
1935 725,483
1936 839,406
1937 820,881
1938 996,367
1939 1.317.195 190,7
1940 1.344.408 194,1
1941 1.500.524 196,7
1942 1.415.596
1943 983,974
1944 663,594
1945 715,505 170,5
1946 746,871
1947 808,839
1948 1.108.057
1949 1.216.361
1950 1.416.300 178,5
1951 1.533.767 181,6
1952 1.711.202 184,8
1953 1.727.970 188

this is population of USSR by years. second column - numbers of prisoners. so we can see that in 1939 USSR had 1 prisoner for 150 men. And what we have with modern democracy like USA in the times of Peace?

2005 2,320,359 300,061,703

one prisoner for 129. Weird, huh? This was horrible GULag. Somebody thinks that USSR was like Shire in the Middle-earth and Stalin was like Saruman. No. This was a country after three revolutions, interventions, Civil war. Country that had armed separatists, "white officers" movement inspired by old nobility, who lose the power. And of course there was a crack in the communists party, Lev Trotsky on the left wing.

that's all for first post. See ya!

Now with Hussein dead and Al Qaeda still on the loose, we have focused on Ahmadinejad of Iran as our new "scary dude"
Yet we watch while Gaddafi attacks his own people with fighter jets and tanks. *sigh*
