As someone who is fiscally conservative, I can wholeheartedly say that my issues (and I lean Republican) deal soley with real issues, not social issues.
Right. Because social issues aren't "real" issues. Because you say so.
You have been listening to too much TV, which of course paints conservatives as bible thumpers...it's all part of the Liberal propaganda to turn elections into social discussion, vs economic discussion.
Right. It's actually the dems who said that atheists shouldn't be able to hold office, even though everyone thinks dubya said it. It's actually dems who spend half their primaries (or more) obsessing about who's a xian and who isn't, and whether this or that branch is xian enough. It's actually dems who are intimately linked with the Pro-Life movement. Gimme a break.
And Jesus was a Liberal? Let's just say the Bible preaches more about working hard and earning it for yourself (Capitalist) than socialist. The bible preaches not expecting anyone to do anything for you, and to work hard, be a good person, and earn it yourself.
Are you fucking kidding me? How about "it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle...". How about "give away everything you have and follow me" How about "ask and it shall be given". Are you SERIOUSLY trying to tell me that Jesus would approve of a bunch of people who think carrying an automatic weapon is a god-given right, and who think giving up part of your money to help the less fortunate is somehow evil?
Nolefan, you seem to think that if you just spout absurdities with enough confidence, people will doubt their memory. Try to regain a grasp of reality, ok? Individual effort and social conscience are not mutually contradictory, except to a republican.
Start with David vs Goliath....
I always get a kick out of how xians will quote the old testament when it suits them, but dismiss it as "not relevant" when it doesn't. And even then, pick and choose. Homosexuality is evil, but wearing two kinds of cloth isn't. Even though they're in the same section of the same book of the same bible, and have essentially the same punishment. But somehow, one is no longer required because Jesus "fulfilled" the requirements, but the other is still outstanding, because xians don't like gays.
