Default Benghazi

So, this Benghazi cover up. What yall think about it? Comes out, that the Obama admin knew within hours there was possible Al Qaeda involvement. Yet 4 days later, John Carney and Susan Rice are out there lying to the American public.

U.S. had early indications Libya attack tied to organized militants | Reuters

Quote:
WASHINGTON Oct 2 (Reuters) - Within hours of last month's attacks on U.S. diplomatic facilities in Benghazi, Libya, President Barack Obama's administration received about a dozen intelligence reports suggesting militants connected to al Qaeda were involved, three government sources said.

Despite these reports, in public statements and private meetings, top U.S. officials spent nearly two weeks highlighting intelligence suggesting that the attacks were spontaneous protests against an anti-Muslim film, while playing down the involvement of organized militant groups.

It was not until last Friday that Director of National Intelligence James Clapper's office issued an unusual public statement, which described how the picture that intelligence agencies presented to U.S. policymakers had "evolved" into an acknowledgement that the attacks were "deliberate and organized" and "carried out by extremists."
Let's not forget that the US personnel in Libya made repeated requests for security upgrades, and were denied, even though there were numerous incidents in the months leading up to 9/11. So much so, the British pulled all of their people from the country.

Very dick'ish of the White House with all of this.

It's not surprising. Three spontaneous riots? I've been sold lies before but you'd have to be completely hapless to buy this one. The cover-up is undoubtedly an effort motivated by timing (re-election). That said, it won't play much of a role, IMO.

What this does show is we need to recontour our international presence and remove embassies from countries that aren't strong allies. We spend monetary aid, military and diplomatic resources in countries where extreme fundamentalists will hate and try to injure people working there and where the aid gets siphoned off by corrupt despots masquerading as free governments. If the entire ordeal with Iraq and Saddam Hussein taught us anything over the past 60 years, it's that we have no business nation-building and policing the world. We just fuck it up in the end.

I'm not one to advocate government spending, but if we're going to spend money and efforts, let's at least do it domestically. We have shit to build here and a bordering country quickly accelerating toward chaos and paramilitary civil war.

Whether you are talking about this, September 11 2001, TWA Flight 800, USS Cole, Oklahoma City or Isreal`s attack of the USS Liberty, government policy is not to tell the truth and this goes for both Republican and Democratic administrations. Obama is nothing more the "Bush lite" when it comes to global hegemony and the so called "war on terror" and is the chief reason why I was in support of Ron Paul.
Some are saying Obama is Bush Heavy, not just Lite. He expanded the Patriot Act wiretapping provisions remember? It took Republicans to shut it down after they regained power.

The one thing I hate about Republicans, is that they only act like Republicans when Democrats hold the White House. True Story. But if we didn't have them, the whole US would be like California, which is fucked.

There have been more drone strikes than before. Guantanamo is still alive. Rendition is still alive. Tribunals are still alive.

The Federal Reserve Act has not been repealed. It hasn't even been audited. The way to destroy any empire is prolonged war and to debase its currency.

There is also this. People outside of the intelligence community don't understand its nuance.

I find funny, with all respect to the victims, how the Rs are trying to forget the real cover up of 911 with this mini-911. And desperately trying to make a case out of it. Cover up wise they are 11 years late. Same intelligence pattern...Huge difference.
Ironic how this time they are all screaming for more investigations. 11 years ago the same request would have granted you a visit from Homeland Security. and a place in the "conspiracy" corner.

You are a Truther? Interesting.

Snowolf, what are they jumping to conclusions to? Within 24 hours it was labeled a terrorist attack. The criticism is that the White House called it a spontaneous protest gone awry 4 days after they knew Al Qaeda was involved.

Diplomats requested increased security twice, and was rejected or ignored.

The intelligence is in. It's a clusterfuck. It took the FBI, who was going to do the investigation, 3 weeks to get out to the site. They only spent a few hours. There were sensitive documents laying on the ground for days/weeks unprotected.

Obama criticized Romney for shooting first, and asking questions later. IF, and that's a big IF, If the white house was waiting for intelligence, why was John Carney and Susan Rice going out and telling people it was not a coordinated attack and was a spontaneous protest?

It wasn't, but even if we were to believe their lie, they jumped the gun if the intelligence isn't in yet.

Have you heard from Hillary lately? Not much. Benghazi is a clusterfuck. What is despicable is the White House's handling of this. From top to bottom.

Hillary is essentially in hiding.
