I have to ignore all the guys I work with. I do construction (Line work) and work with people from all over the country. I've got about 3 guys that view the world about the same as me, they're the only ones I talk about that stuff too.

I'm polite to everyone else and just mind my own business, sometimes I'll make fun of how stupid they are with a joke or something but they rarely take offense. I can't go on to much about it, the owner of the company is a very religious man. He'd flip if he knew he had an atheist running jobs, pretty irrational guy... like most Christians.

I've known some fundamentalist xians who were (are) very intelligent educated people, with skilled white-collar jobs -- but on the subject of religion, they just couldn't think rationally. And to forestall any accusation that I'm using a circular definition, it is possible to have an argument where both participants are disagreeing vehemently but both are arguing rationally and logically. Emotional and/or irrational argument is fundamentally different, regardless of the specific subject matter.

In the gun thread right now, there's a lot of very similar arguments. The problem is that when you're arguing about something that you have a huge emotional/psychic investment in, it's hard to step back and consider it objectively.

Politics has no place in the workplace. A matter of fact I think it's a fireable offense in my workplace. Tell the guy once to kindly STFU, after that I'd report it to supervisors.
