I read it shoud take just about 2 months for the criminal penalties to go away, i.e., you wont get arrested for possession...perfect timing

The war on drugs is finally coming to a close. When does this take effect? Are they going to have open weed stores when I get there next month?

Probably no stores for at least a year from what ive read. But could be quicker

I was hoping that they would just open up the medical stores so just anyone can walk in.

Medicinal shops will be just that...medicine. Still need a red card to purchase. The purchase will be tax free if it's "medicine". On the other side, new shops will have to open, think "liquor stores", were it'll be taxed. The shops will be totally separate from each other.

I'm thinking the current medicinal shops do pay a tax. At least within Denver.

There is nothing to stop these shops from having a walk in and buy program either. Most if not all will probably stay as medicinal and wait to see how this works through the courts.

The Feds are probably going to challenge this big time. They know that if they don't make a show of it, during the mid terms, there will probably be a fair number of states that join in on this party.

The next year or two should be fun to watch.

I was told they will be two seperate dealios. Medicinal will basically become "members only". Maybe not tax free, but at a reduced rate.
