Its absurd that a ton of children needed to die, for this country to realize we really have a problem that needs to be addressed. Its sad that capital has everything to do with legislation.

I think it has alot to do with the population size, but there is no denying that when us Canadians read American newspapers, watch American television or read American tabloids we just shake our head and have thoughts that would probably make most of you jump through the screen and tell us to fuck right off. I remember watching a show where they interviewed dozens of teenage girls in Louisiana and they all agreed that they would not get pregnant if they just jumped up and down really quickly after intercourse. I cannot imagine hearing that coming from a Canadian teenager. I bet ya each of these girls could name the make of at least one handgun ie: Colt 45, glock, Saturday night special.......

The opinion of an outsider looking in.

The American love for their 2nd amendment is something the majority of us from other countries will never understand. Personally speaking I think its an absolute joke how easy it is in America to obtain a gun, I think gun violence in America is 100% directly related to the 2nd amendment and no I don't agree that everyone has the right to bear arms. Already I've heard comments from the gun lobby saying if the kindergarden teachers had guns this would not have happened.. its beyond belief how moronic that sounds to the rest of us around the world.

And you could agrue with me until you are red in the face, I still will never understand why the right to bear arms is so important. That said I also understand that you's will always have that right and that won't change. The pro gun lobby im America is far to strong. I just hope that going forward that Americans can understand that the right to bear arms does not need to include .223-calibre rifles.

Why the Fck is it such a travesty to make a small change to your second amendment which says semi automatics, and guns designed to kill people as fast as possible aren't needed to protect yourself from the type of "tyranny" your fore fathers had in mind? I mean the types of guns they had when writing that needed 10 seconds to reload each shot for christ sake.

Im not against guns for hunting at all, but when you start carrying guns in your car, or on your belt to protect yourself from other people who have guns its seems well...sorta dumb to me.


The whole guns dont kill people bad people do argument that right wing nutjobs chant while dancing naked around fires gets old, and is about as short sighted as can be. Anyone ever thought to make it harder for bad people to get guns? Since you cant tell who is going to snap (i.e. guy with no criminal record who just killed 20 children) then for the sake of safety simply make it harder for everyone to get them, and the ones you can get dont need to be mass killing machines. I mean where does the line get drawn? If there was a gun that could kill the closest 100 people to you in 2 seconds would that be reasonable? What about one that could kill 10 people in 2 seconds? Surely a line needs to be drawn. And fuck hand guns....no one needs a hand gun. No one.

Long barreled rifles for hunting, and thats it.

I dont mean to sound like this is just an american issue because canada has some of the same shitty problems, but it just seems to me that if you make it harder to get guns, especially the type that you can easily hide and that can do major amounts of damage in a short time there will be less gun related crimes.


BTW,,, the bad people only kill argument also shits the bed for all the stories of kids getting their parents guns in their hands and accidentally shooting themselves or someone else.


Also, can someone explain to me the logic of people being of age to buy a gun before being able to buy a glass of wine?

Ill be honest...i cross the boarder to go to the states to see friends, travel etc, and every time i cross i feel less safe, and have in the back of my mind that at any time some nut job could start shooting. Its very nice living in an area that people dont feel the need to have guns, and to know people dont have hand guns in their purse, or under their coat. I can safely tell someone to fuck off who cut me off without the fear of being shot.


Last thing....Fck all the news stations that glorify terrible things like this with their custom logos, theme songs and countless hours putting the perpetrators in the spot light. Here is a news flash...ITS NOT HELPING CRAZY PEOPLE WHO WANT INSTANT ATTENTION TO STOP.

Of course CNN could be wrong, but its reported that the hand gun used to kill those kids was legally obtained. Seems to me it has its share of blood on it...no? The fact the kid opened his moms drawer to take it out is semantics...

First what a fucked up statement. The gun kills no one and you can't prove otherwise!!!
A person obtains a gun, obtains ammo, loads the gun, points it an another human being and pulls the trigger. The gun does none of this itself.

314 Million residents in the USA and less then 12 in several years pull off a mass shooting. These are very sad, I recently had one near my work I posted on the forum about a month ago. A ex-marine to boot. Someone that severed his country proudly. I can't explain nor understand the mindset of why these travesties take place but I don't blame the guns, it was a powerful weapon of their choosing I agree with that.

I agree with this, basic info only. I get sick of the commentary, interviewing of insignificant bystanders who aren't sure what they really saw or weren't close enough, they were just the PULSE the news crew found close to the scene.

Crazy people gonna crazy. You could ban new firearm sales right now and it wouldn't make a bit of difference. There are already plenty of firearms in circulation to get your hands on one plenty easy enough. Just look how well Prohibition worked and how well the war on drugs is working. We have a societal problem. American society glorifies violence. The vast majority of people can separate movie/TV/video game violence from the "real world". How do you retain the rights of the many while trying to decrease the influence on those who are fucked in the head? Hell if I know. With great freedom comes great responsibility.

except in my word where I live those fucked up people with no morals cant walk into a walmart and walk out with a loaded hand gun 10 minutes later.
