No one can do that here, make a valid argument at least.

Yes guns are easy to get. With the proper ID and background check and waiting period of 10 days before you can actually have the gun in your hand.
Yes you can buy one illegally off the street in a few hours.

Again don't embellish the facts just state your information factually.

I do agree somewhat on the ammo restrictions though. Nothing absurd though. Here it is only five rounds which is ridiculous. I'm not sure of the answer, but at least a twenty round clip is acceptable.

I could car less about caliber size. To me its more about being able to conceal the weapon, or the fact a weapon can deal massive amounts of sustains firepower.

Caliber has nothing to do with the gun problem.

Slight embellishment perhaps, but a 10 day wait is semantics. Correct me if im wrong, but if you have a license to carry a hand gun and you have gone through the process to get that licensee can you not simply go buy one immediately?

10 minutes, or 10 days makes not difference thou. Someone wanting to plan a mass killing, or simply have a semi automatic hand gun "just in case" will wait 10 days.

Where I live if you are caught with a hand gun its jail time. Unless you are going to or coming from a firing range, and IMO i think its fcked in Canada too that we allow people to buy handguns.

and if you really want you can pursue your federal firearms license allowing you to own nearly any gun made. Mostly paper work and classes to get to this point. I don't know all the details involved, but I think with this you can own a fully automatic machine gun. Again I don't have all the details going off memory and my limited dealings with FFLC people.

Didn't read anyone else's so props to anyone who has already said this but heres my stance:

Anyone buying a gun needs to a go through some kind of mental health check. I think it would be pretty obvious in a lot of cases if the person is not fit to have a weapon.

THATS the problem. Its always about this "right". Its that "right" which is fucked, and cant be used as an argument. Here is what the rest of the civilized world feels: YOU DONT NEED THAT RIGHT.


Its a good debate, but im out. I stand by my first statement.

More bad things can happen then good when more people have guns then dont.

That would not have prevented what happened in CT. No one saw him coming in with a gun, carrying or transporting one (presumably). He shot himself. Jail time not really a deterrent in that situation.
