Snowolf you awesome and i really don't wanna get into a heated argument with you. i do want to point out though that countries that have taken away weapons crime rates go sky high. the reason is that every criminal who gets an illegal weapon (not that hard sadly) knows he wont have to face someone else. Countries that have pulled guns out have seen an extreme rise in murders, robberies etc. remember the shooting at the theater? the story they DIDN'T talk about was how the shooter chose a theater banning conceal and carry. he had a much larger theater a mile from his home and another much larger one a couple miles out. he went further to this smaller one tho because of its no weapons policy. if you really dig deep into these mass shooting, you will see that this is often the case, these total nut jobs finding gun free zones.

Apparently you don't know too much about "nut bags". Prime example in the theater shooting, he planned ahead and had bombs made in his apartment. Just because a person is "crazy" does not make them stupid. In fact there have been some very successful people in the world who have suffered from mental illnesses. Do not underestimate will....

Yes, there are certainly some who would plan ahead...Timothy McVey of the Oklahoma bombing is a good example as is the Unibomber and it sounds like this freak in Rochester. And no, there is no one-size-fits-all solution.

Fact of the matter is that deaths caused by these "methodical" killers are a small percentage of the gun deaths total. Impulse-type killers are a much, much bigger problem. And if all we're left with is the methodical killer, then America is a much safer place.

Well actually i did read through all posts after i posted and all my points still stand. I took nothing out of context, We will never face the same problems as the US, mainly because we are run with a much better system and also our culture is to generally educate first and speak second. (note i said generally).

I am also guessing i know a hell of a lot more about the US than a shitload of the people who were born and raised there, hell i have never met an Australian who thought Americans spoke a different language just because they have an accent. I have met more than a few people in the states who assumed i spoke some crazy language just because spoke funny there.


My step brother got bitten by a red bellied black when he was 7 and almost died, you know what he didn't buy a gun, he has never killed one oh and did i mention he grew up and now owns pythons. Quite a different path, probably due to education I'm guessing.

And to your last point, you don't know much about Australia do you? Most families are direct decedents from Irish, Scottish, English and later on Italian and Greek Immigration.

BUT if we were all convicts then i would much rather be a decedent of someone who stole a loaf of bread and got sent to this amazing land than call myself home to a country that was formed on a civil war, embraced slavery, misconstrues a constitution that was put in place 200 years ago, puts rights before common sense and above all else believes that as a country they are truly free to do what ever they want just because they can.

Agree with you Bones, people are so quick to make points with no evidence to back them up. In fact most say what their opinion is and will argue it till blue in the face with no evidence to support their point.

I have no problem debating the issue with intelligent gun advocates and would actually even agree with them that a total gun ban in the US is completely unrealistic. That said, the repetition of untruths cheapens the legitimate argument of the intelligent and responsible gun advocate.

If weapons are a deterrent to violence, then let Iran have nuclear missiles in order to achieve world peace.
