What do u guys think of gay marriages?
I personally think that gay marriages should be legal. If all men and women are created equal than why don't gay people have the same rights to marry and have Legal protection. We Really need to stop the church involvement in the government. We left England because we wanted freedom of believes, Religion. There are a lot of religious people that say to be gay is a sin, and how can gay be a sin when god created man and everything around us. I think it is very wrong that gay marriages are illegal. Just because of someone preference doesn't mean that they don't have the same feelings and needs to be married. Also Marriage TODAY is a LEGAL CONSTRUCT that confers VAST amounts of power and privilege to the participants. No one is saying religious institutions have to perform them, only that the LAW recognize them without regards to the sex of the two participants. If you want to keep it a religious "institution", you must strip out of the law all the power and privilege it confers. You cannot have it both ways. |

Ok, I just got back from a friends b-day, so this is a quasi-drunk post. Something of more substance will follow tomorrow. In the meantime:
(1) The state should not sanction ANY marriage, gay or straight. (2) However, if they are ARE going to sanction marriage, then every citizen should be afforded the same opportunity. (3) Religious institions should be fee to allow/deny any kind of marriage they want.

I think we as the USA are way behind the times with Civil rights. We left england a long time ago to practice freedom of religion. But of how things are, just because people say its wrong in 1 religion ( which if i am correct it does not say Gay is a sin in the bible, Its just how people interpret the bible) should not stop people of having the same rights to love and have the safety of being married.
Did you know if my partner were to be dying and i wanted to see him in the hospital by law since we are not married and i am not allowed legaly see him on his death bed.. How screwed up is that |

Full-on Marriage is ONLY legal in MA (my home state). CT, VT, and a few others have "civil unions" which is not quite the same thing as marriage. However, NONE of this affects any federal rights...

what do i think about homo marriage?
i cannot believe that anybody has a justified interest in it one way or another! mind your own farking bidnis. if people want to exchange vows; proclaim their love and wish for a public committment to one another; indulge in some kind of bullshit ceremony to promote a future of false security.... who the hell is anybody to complain? the church? hahahahaaaa what a skanky bag of bollocks religion is. never did anyone any good ever or whatsoever. i would prefer the question....'marriage.... why bother?'

My personal opinion in marriage, is that it's made to make the wife the happy, it's their dream to get married since the day they were born (unless they are the new age kind of women). Some gay couples might look into it for a form of security, or some sort of statement. I would understand if they would want to get married for a economical stability such as taxes and health insurance benefits. But the government does not support some of this actions, so some benefit such joint taxes are not yet attainable.
Overall I find the marriage issue to be joke, how many couples are getting married and then get a divorce months after, it's like a fashion statement to get a divorce now days. You can find unmarried couples that have more stability in their relationship, than any married couple will ever attain, it's all about communication. Then comes religion, but thats another issue. |
