It's similar to the US, except for married folks its about 10 percent less. Wiki has this chart from 2005 that compares all the major countries in the world:

Taxation in Canada - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Interesting observation on taxation, if you look at the countries that place highest when comparing standards of living such as Sweden, Denmark and The Netherlands, they tax the fuck out of their people. Seems that if the money is used appropriately, taxes can make people happy.

Nah Perp it's just that people in those coutries are dumb as fuck and just happy not to be hitler's play toys. Need proof? Talk to some girls from that area. Hot as hell but there's nothing at all going on upstairs.

Then again, that could be why everyone is so happy

Whaaaat? I know a ton of people from those countries, I have the exact opposite experience from you Mooz. Especially the Swedes, they're some of the smartest people I know. And coming from someone who's spent over a year travelling around the States, you definitely don't have the lock on smart people, that's for sure. (That's not meant to be ass, its just my experience)

You might want to ask yourself why one of the most powerful countries in the world is so low on those lists? I'd live in any of those countries before I'd live in the States without a second thought, but that's just me.

Because we're equally filled with people who are dumb as fuck. We elected Bush twice. TWICE! I don't need to say anymore than that.

It seems to me like the average Brit knows more about US politics than the average American.

Your average lobotomy patient knows more about US politics than the average american. Did you hear the radio clip from Stern asking people on the street why they backed Obama's policies? Every single one he spouted off McCain's policy (pro life, stay in iraq etc) and people were all "Yes I support that!". They even supported Palin as Obama's VP.

I swear one day I'm taking over a country and making my own laws. One is dumb people get deported.

Truer words were never spoken.. In Europe the government fears the people... In the USA the People fear the government.

^^^He blinked a lot... were his eyes drying out??

It depends on where you are in the States on the intelligence level. Ends up being about priorities. Seattle is considered a "smart" city. If you don't have a certain level of education or training, it's hard for you to make it comfortably in Seattle. The price of living is relatively high, and the competition for high paying jobs is high. Head east of the mountains in Washington and it's a different story. They have different priorities there.
