Mumbai Attacks
This shit in Mumbai is insane. They got so many targets. 2 hotels, a hospital, trains, cafe, random grande attacks around the city. So organized. Un fucking real.
|
Crazy Insane! On top of it all there are supposedly hostages and two ongoing gun battles in the hotels and witnesses said they were looking for people with British and US passports for the hostages.
I wonder why they chose Mumbai? |

I tend to disagree, at one time in the past there is no way you could have convinced anyone that these 'inept' people you dismiss could take out the WTCs by flying hijacked planes into them. Thinking that these people are an untrained rabble is underestimating them in a huge way...and exactly what they want you to think. I highly doubt that we've seen the end of such attacks in Europe or North America. Unlike our society of instant gratification, they actually have patience. Come to think of it, why even bother attacking us on our soil when so many of us travel abroad? That makes more sense.
|
Why would they want me to think that they're untrained rabble? They want me to take them seriously and be scared of them. They don't care if I'm surprised by their ingenuity, they want me to think they're an unstoppable force so that we'll give in to their demands.
And we haven't seen the end of the attacks in the US or Europe, just the end of successful attacks. They're not waiting because they're patient (And I find it odd that you would sweepingly generalize them as patient and the West as impatient. Is resorting to terrorist attacks to get what you want a typical attribute of patient people? Seems like an attempt at instant gratification to me.) They have tried, and they've failed. Sucker punches are easy, boxing matches aren't,and right now they're a bit busy getting their asses kicked around their own back yards. |
I simply point it out because every time someone dismisses them as being a bunch of nutbars, or inept like you have, it gives them power. People don't expect much from an untrained group, and then all of a sudden you have coordinated attacks that kill and wound hundreds of people. It obviously worked for them.
And you're far from kicking their asses in Iraq or Afghanistan, I would say just the reverse in some areas. And it wasn't a sweeping generalization, just look how the west reacted after 9/11. Hey lets rush into a country that had nothing to do with the attacks, but somehow it makes us feel like we're doing something. Check your US history, its full of knee jerk reactions. |
mumbai is the gateway to india
hardcore british empire heritage in there not to mention a major western india sea port call center hub for western corporations and mega tourist airport hub. oh and india has an election coming up in early next year i seem to recall hearing. terrorism, tis all. find them, try them, if guilty, kill them. forget them and their cause. job done. terrorism fails. |

And I'm not going to quibble over who's winning what, or how patient the West is or is not. Your point was the terrorists are patient. But your main argument for the West being impatient is your claim that we're reactionary. Aren't terrorists the ultimate reactionaries? Does beheading reporters and bombing random targets strike you as patient, well thought out long term plans of action likely to produce favorable results? |
why do you think this attacks are against US? it is conflict within india itself.
They were targeting US citizens only for one reason. IF they would take indian hostages, indian special forces would just blow up whole building with hostages and noone would even ask questions, because indian govt dont give a shit about their citizens. But americans make it more complicated. |
Can we all agree to stop using the oxymoron, "war on terrorism" please?
