The season never ends. What normally happens is on May 25`th, the winter season passes become void. At that time people have to either buy a summer pass or buy daily lift tickets. This year, they decided to let pass holders basically "ride for free" an extra three weeks as an incentive to get people to buy summer passes.

In direct answer to your question, Timberline does not close until around Labor day in September. This is usually a 2 to 3 week shut down for maintenance. At that point, they reopen on Fri, Sat, Sun until the new season`s snow accumulation is such to open the entire resort. You can go anytime and buy a daily lift ticket. Currently, the hours have changed to summer mode and that is 7:30 AM until 2:30 PM

Wow, so that totally sucked! They shut the lifts down for wind, it was so freaking windy it was hard to walk! Maybe Friday. Nothing like spending 7 hours in the car just to stop at Del Taco and IKEA.

Oh damn...sorry to hear that. I don`t know what the deal is with this weather; it was supposed to be in the mid 80`s and sunny all week. Well, like we say, "if you don`t like the weather on Mt. Hood, wait 5 minutes....it`l change" Hope you have better luck on Friday...by the way I will be riding on Thursday and most likely Friday as well to get full use out of the extended pass...

Even though I live in Portland I almost always check out a couple of things before I head up to the mountain. Not only do I check out the forecast but also the current and past 24 hour conditions at both the 6,000 and 7,000 feet level. You can access that information on the Timberline condition page. Although it can changed before you get there it provides a idea of what is going on weather wise. It's also good to look at the weather cam at Government Camp to provide a clue if it is raining or snowing, when those conditions are around.

The snow phone gives you info but I would say it is usually on the optimistic side. Its good to call but take the info with a grain of salt although it seems like the early report from the groomers is more accurate than later on.

Hopefully, the weather will improve!!! I need to get up their on perhaps Friday myself.

Well, we are in Washington, about 3.5 hours away, when we leave at 5 it usually says it is open, we have no idea until they actually open what will happen. The weather has been saying wind 5-10 mph but the wind was much stronger there on Tuesday. I am keeping my fingers crossed for Friday.
