Sunday was the end to a great season on the Fusion Pass. Had hit up Timberline for three hours on Saturday and then from 9:00 AM to past closing on Sunday. Will still be up there a few times this summer and will take advantage of the one time 1/2 price summer lift ticket for pass holders. You need to show them your pass so do not toss it.

Kept a eye out for a pack of wolves lead by Snowolf himself but did not see them. At closing the weather seem stable as the occasional fog bank had disappeared. Headed up from the top of Palmer at 2:00 PM hand carrying the board as I did not get back down to pickup my pack. It seems like hiking up the rocky spline was easier than hiking in the snow a few weeks. Probably got up to 9,100' after about a hour of walking and resting. I can tell you the pacemaker was not kicking in at all because the heart was beating fast enough!

The Zig Zag glacier was empty after two snowboarders and a skier went pass. Sat and enjoyed the view, took a few pictures and listen for the rock fall that was occurring near the bottom end of Castle Crags.

Here's some of the pictures

Empty run all the way back to the parking lot

Whats their new plan? Got a link?

I had heard somewhere, maybe it was here or my buddy i cant remember that they were in talks with the forest department to open up more trails below easy rider back behind vista near the rear of the main lot...that could be pretty awesome as it could spread that side of the mountain out more since thats where the largest congestion is with all the newbies getting off the lift, vista, and easy rider....

I was AWOL up there this weekend....went rafting on the John Day River instead. I am tentatively going to be up there this Friday to meet with Mooz and his posse from Windell`s though.

The most recent master plan was submitted in 1997 as far as I know. It listed many expansions; many of which have occurred (Vista Lift and HRM lift as well as inbounds expansions into HRM. The Super pipe was also on the list and was obviously approved. Some things still in limbo are plans for overnight accommodations and an expanded parking lot.

The "Friends of Mt. Hood" group is really typical of the extremist tree hugger mental that exists in Portland. They oppose everything and use the courts as their activist tool. If you look at their positions from day one, they have been super butt hurt over the establishment of Meadows from day one.

I hope to see the improvements talked about such as some expansion to our night operations and better parking. An on site hotel would make Meadows a true resort instead of just a "ski area". I think we can expand Meadows and preserve the natural beauty of Mt. hood at the same time.

Check out Mt. Bachelors new lift ticket pricing concept: Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort - Lift Tickets
It's a pretty interesting concept, i wonder if other resorts will catch onto this as well.

I like the idea of proportional prices.

...the best riding is when it is white out puking, gapers at the lodge

the difference is runs verses chairs...close chairs due to wind, close runs due to high ava danger

besides most midweek folks are pass holders anyway, imagine resorts really make their $ on wkends and holidays...so just charge gapers full price during those times and give a break to the midweek mobsters...but many a mobster is a pass holder so it really doesn't matter.
