Default PDX riders?

Hello to all Mt Hood riders. Like you I am awaiting some damn snow. I think this is the first time in 5 years we have not been open for Thanksgiving. Anyway, I work as an instructor at Meadows and I will be driving up most Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. I am a split shift worker so I usually get to Meadows around noon and stay until closing at night. Any night owls are welcome to share the ride and take some runs together when I am not teaching. Unless there is a traffic problem, I generally run 26 up to Govy. Any local members, look me up to share a run or two and maybe a beer at the Stube...

I do also ride at Tline and Skibowl; mostly in the spring when we quit night operations.

Additionally, any Alaska peep, I will be doing some teaching and riding at Alyeska over Christmas. Any Fairbanks peeps, I plan on riding Mt. Aurora and maybe Moose if it`s open one weekend on this trip; probably on the weekend of Jan 2,3 2009. I would love to meet some of you on the slopes....

I certainly PLAN on riding Hood. The weather was nice enough to have my top down on my car today. That is NOT conducive to snowboarding.

Here is something to make you want to cry. I used to live in Arizona and I learned to ride at Arizona Snowbowl in Flagstaff. Well, I just pulled up their website to check conditions and here is the top of the Agasiz chair today:

You saw what Meadows looked like in the other thread. I may have to go back to Arizona if I want to get some good shredding done. I am planning on a trip this winter down there to go hiking with my old Phoenix buddies; maybe I will bring the board and hit Flag or go to Showl;ow and ride Sunrise...

Default Timberline on Friday?

Can`t take it any longer. I am thinking og going to Tline on Friday if they are running Palmer. I need to get my season pass anyway. If they are not open, I may go hike Meadows; there are a few decent sized stashes up on top of Cascade to play on. Besides, I am about to do the Heiki Lunta dance ceremony up there in hopes to get it to snow! Anyhow, have room for a couple of people if you can ride on Friday!

I may take you up on that offer for rides Snowolf, especially if i start to feel like my current rides i go with every year start to slack off and not go enough With this late start im gonna want to get the most out of this damn season pass

How is the night skiing at Meadows though? I have never done it honestly Im usually out there when the lifts open and out by 3pm with my current carpools..i heard it can really suck and to goto Skibowl for night boarding...

I actually like it a lot. It is`nt as big of an area of course, but I have had some awesome riding at night there, I think it is a mteer of really knowing the place and being able to pick good lines. They have improved some of the lighting we are told; hopefully, this may eliminate a few "black holes" where you had to really have good night vision to ride well. Our conditions almost always are better than Ski Bowl being higher and colder.

With this small system expected on Friday, combined with snow making and snow farming (we are hauling it from the parking lot and spreading it out on Buttercup) We may have a tentative, partial opening this weekend. Don`t get too excited as it is only Buttercup and Easy Rider, but hey it`s a start!! Lets get naked, burn some old skis and snowboards as an offering to the snow gods (not to mention an excuse to get drunk around a fire) and hope for some serious change in our weather.

I'll probably see you guys up there as soon as a blue opens up. Don't think I'll come for bunny hills though.

Ok, right now my wife and I are planning to head up to Meadows on Wednesday next week. I'm REALLY hoping there will be some good runs open by then.

Anyone else heading up on Wed?
