Monarch is a nice little hidden gem. I've driven right past it about 20 times to get to Wolf Creek and didn't even realize what lay right up hwy 50. According to many reliable sources they have had the best snow the area has seen in up to/over a decade but I must say that aside from that the terrain is sick. A lot of natural jumps, steeps, and plenty of blue and green around to learn on or just bomb the crap out of. Spent 3 days there and at times the lines at the bottom were a little long but still didn't compare to the big ones like Breck, Keystone, A-basin, Vail etc. They were still longer than Lovelands lines I must admit. We showed up on a friday morning to beautiful sunshine and 3.5-4.5 feet of pow depending on where you went. There was still plenty of pow to be found when we left on Sunday at 4pm. We got a bunch of video but being cam newbs we only had about 5 useable minutes

DrGreenthumb420 edited the video and sent it to me. I'm the guy that had to bail on the jump and almost took out the traversing beginnner skier who happened to be doing his S turns through the park.
The mountain has 3 parks. A beginner with a lot of rails low to the ground, a larger park for intermediate to not quite what I'd call expert, and an organic park with a bunch of log hits and more natural jumps etc. I liked the organic park, it's more my style and normally I can't stand the park because there are 50 kids sitting there waiting to turn in front of a rail and carve up the approach

Cheaper than all the big ones, less crowded, mucho cheap lodging around, and only about 3 hours from Denver pending on weather, road closures etc.
