New Lifts @ Whistler

Heading out to Whistler in a couple of months after a long time away.

I like the idea of the Peak-to-Peak gondola and I can see how it really makes it easier to get around.

But what about the 2 new chairs? How do they change the traffic patterns?

If you're talking about the 2 new chairs they're installing in the spring, 1 is a replacement chair to high speed and the other will open more terrain iirc. If you're talking about symphony and harmony they opened up some really cool terrain, but don't do much to affect traffic.

Yeah, I'm asking about the Crystal Ridge Express and the Harmony 6 Express.

Kinda wondering how fast things get tracked out in the Harmony area

Not exactly, no new terrain with the two new chairs this year.

The new crystal chair will make much shorter traverses if your doing laps off Spanky's or through the glacier. Esp good for us snowboarders.

OP, if you haven't been in a long time then harmony and symphony will be new to you, and they will blow your mind.

If the snow forecast is good do fresh tracks breakfast, stuff gets tracked out fast at whistler unfortunately.

Yeah, it has been a long time and I only spent a weekend there so I didn't get much of a chance to explore.

This season, I'll have 8 days in a ski in/out Creekside place and a couple of former Whistler residents in my group to show us around. Those 2 chairs will be new to all of us.

(and it is raining here so I'm just daydreaming and surfing the Whistler website

The one chair is just an upgrade from 4 to six seats and neither opens new terrain.

Both are nice upgrades, with something like 5000 acres of terrain whistler doesn't really need more skiable terrain. Like the peak to peak these lifts help you ride more of the mountain.

I never really found that harmony had super long lineups to begin with, but i'm all for improvements. That being said, I always found harmony tracked out all the time anyway :P

As for crystal, i'm stoked and sad at the same time..

Stoked, because FUCK BLACKCOMB GLACIER ROAD! (can you tell I hate that cat track?), and because that lift was hella slow.

Sad, because usually crystal zone was the place you could go to find pow after everything else was tracked out... that might be no more, now.
