planning for a heli trip

Hey all, I got the idea that it would be great to take a heli skiing/snowboarding trip in a few years. I figure that I need to get better at skiing big powder and back country terrain, but didn't know if there was anything else. For those who have actually done it, what would you recommend doing to get ready, and how far in advance should one of these trips be planned? Also, any opinions on the best ones/ best ones for the money?

Look into it well in advance. Some places get booked out early (I began a year in advance). You'll find a lot of information and comparisons on http://www.powderhounds.com/
I chose an operator with more than just one heli (groups can be splitted according to their levels) and own pilots/helis (not rented; they can react more spontaniusly if weather clears up).
As preparation I did ride a lot of BC, took avy classes, and did a lot of squats. Can tell you in two weeks, if it was good

I really thought quicksand was going to be a much bigger issue in my life when I was little
