Has anyone been to Mammoth lately? The web cams look great.

I'm planning a weekend trip there late May and want to make sure I'm not wasting my money.

I went at the end of april. They closed off 3/4 of the mountain, including the back bowl which is my favorite... but mammoth is so massive that there's still enough there for a solid day's worth of boarding.

Late may is cutting it a bit close. They got a bit of snow over the last week but it'll melt quickly. It'll be slushy so you'll probably end early. The base is almost 9000 feet though so you have that working for you.

But is it worth it? IMO April mammoth is still better than anything on the east coast in February.

Ive never been late may though. I have a season pass but I've hung up my board for the season.

Might go up to mammoth to mountain bike though :) Maybe I could bring a board and board one day and bike the next lol.

Which dates specifically are you going?

EDIT: this was april 24th:

Cali has been pretty cold since then. but if a heat wave comes in between now and your trip then all that could melt.

I was there the weekend before this past weekend and it was a 7/10 condition. Late May is cutting it, but they have been getting snow pretty much every week lately. If you like slush, then I guess it's worth it if you get cheap tix.

Dave785, what program/app are you using to track all that info?

It's a Sony as200 video camera and the gps stuff is built in. I'm not a fan though, the speed is usually wrong. It looks at your horizontal speed but not your vertical speed so it's always pessimistic on your mph. I run snowtrace too and I like that a lot more

Hey sorry I just got back to it :D

It was still great! The beginner run is starting to show some dirt, but canyon lodge is still awesome, and anything from mcoy to the summit is great!

It got slushy quite early tho (11am maybe), so I do recommend riding from 1st lift (7:30). Although its perfect to hit the park after 11pm since its suuuper soft.

Main park itself is not that good, the jumps are not really covered with snow. So for the park rats, its pretty much just a jib fest in mammoth. The other park have some mid size jumps thats still ride-able.
