Wink A Utah Memoir w/ Pics

Got back yday from Utah and it was quite memorable. After fighting with United Airlines because my board wound up in San Jose and then L.A. and then it finally showed up in SLC at midnight, only 11 hrs after we landed there, my Trip thus far was a wreck. But after finding out that brighton doesnt have nite skiing on Sundays, i figured that i didnt lose a day of riding anyways.

The next day, we headed out for Snowbird ( big mistake, explain later )

when we got there, we were told to take the peruvian express to the top and then take the tunnel into Mineral Basin. As we were approaching the exit of the tunnel, i got a small glimpse of the view and my Jaw literally dropped

The epic views of Snowbird is what i was wating for.

Snowbird really impressed me. The skill level of both riders and skiiers was way up there. It was really enjoyable hauling ass with 99% of the people there:

All i can say about Snowbird is that it was Cat Track heaven. Being from the east, we dont have any cat-tracks here, ive never seen them at least
Chips run was by far the best trail i ever been on in my life. Every trail was fast, steep, and long. I dont care much about deep pow, as long as there is packed powder and no ice, im a happy camper Snowbird as of now seems to be unbeatable in the best resorts department so far

The next day, we headed out to the canyons.

I chose this resort for one reason only...NyInfamous'Girl told me that i have to go on top of the 9990 lift. So i took a couple of blue runs to get me warmed up for the day and i proceeded to where i was advised to go.
as i was approaching the lift, i noticed it was empty and signs were posted everywhere to use Extreme Caution: Experts Only I kinda had second guesses, but i told myslef, " Go hard, or Go home"

I got to the top and holy shit how am i gonna get down I gathered my thoughts and for some reason hiked up even higher haha. now i was at the perimeter of the resort:

I then for some odd reason, opened the warning gate and headed outside the boundaries and dropped into an insane bowl:

In a nut shell..snowbird got the best of us. Me and my girl both regret going there first because we couldnt enjoy the Canyons as much. All we thought about was Snowbird!!

In conclusion, ill leave you guys with a funny video. Enjoy!

Hey, you've got a photobucket account. Our threads allow ten pics per post. All you have to do is copy paste the IMG tags into your post and they'll appear.

You might need to resize. 640X480 is the web forum standard. Otherwise you can put them up.

Thanks for the review.

did the same hike to the top at 9990 a week before you, but didn't go through the gates. Canyons was day 6 of 7 for us, I don't think my legs would've handled too well. The view up there is awesome.

It still would've ended up neat...I hate opening up other windows to see pics...lol

Looks like a great time. Wish I could've made it out there. Snowbird is definitely massive compared to everything.

Any more pics of that back bowl? Looks like awesome pow conditions back there at the Canyons.

yea i hear ya. i was still sore from snowbird the day before. i wound up on the eastern most part of the mountain doing an ungroomed double black traverse as my last run of the day

going outside of the perimeter was awesome. at the bottom i wound up somewhere in the glades trying to find my way back into the resort haha

the snow wasnt fluffy, it was a lil hard and settled. it took a big toll on my legs navigating thru the moguls

Just to let you know, that run you did out of 9900 is the very same face that slid, buried, and killed a snowboarder two seasons ago. Fun terrain out there, but not without it's dangers. If it goes south it's not something you can ride away from. Truly a high consequence line.

believe me...its not something i wanted to do. like i said, i was second guessing it, it looked like the "easiest" way down. the other trails inside the perimeter had moguls the size of small volkswagons

Just wanted to give the heads up on that spot. Sometimes it's better to take the crappy way down than hang your ass out there. Fortunately on that day the snow was stable enough or at least you didn't hit the sweet spot to trigger a slab.

Here is the report from Avalanche.org on the accident I was talking about.
