K, we need like 8-15 people, a bus/rv and we all pitch in and drive to chile some summer for the adventure of a lifetime. Any takers??

i've somewhat looked into, still need info on panama/columbia border, i guess theres part you cant drive through and ferry/frieght service is required to pass it, other then that looks like just a really long drive. it's only in the idea stage, i couldnt do it for a while, im in afghanistan and doubt the marine corps would let me drive through 12 countries into south america even when i get back. but when i get out i wanna do it.

just fly and by a used vehicle down there for super cheap. plus then you dont have to worry about the crazy shit in mexico or el salvador ect. prob a very beautiful and all, but more trouble than its worth IMO.

i agree that would be easier, but the adventure down would be fun and the trip would be cheaper

Even if you're fortunate and avoid any of the very real dangers along the way, driving from one end of Latin America to the other pretty much guarantees one thing: someone's going to get sick along the way. (Don't forget it will be winter in South America.) I've had Montezuma's Revenge in Mexico and the flu in Bolivia -- no fun at all.

Driving down sounds like a terrible idea. Your almost guaranteed to get fucked with by the police when they see your car is from the US. Better carry a bunch of cash to give them when they stop you haha.
