Windham TR - Vid & Pics
First trip of the season was a pretty spectacular one. After a long summer wait, both my board and snow got to reunite finally, along with me testing out my GoPro Camera which came in the mail the day before:D
After reading the snow report and looking at the conditions, I decided to take out my CUSTOM X for this trip, since I really needed that extra edge control.
Me personally, i dont like to start off the season with a really hard board, I was hoping on taking out my softer board for forgiveness and just to get my feet and lower body back into the swing of things. I guess thats why i was extra jittery about my first run,
Once i strapped in and approached the lift, i felt pleasure, anxiety and even more so nervousness pass thru my body. I guess i mustve been really amped for this upcoming season.
at the summit i strap in, and begin my journey down. To my surprise, i start of doing some cross over turns, and steadily increasing my speed thru the hard pack and getting used to again the beast that is the CUSTOM X. Half way down the trail, the conditions become more soft with very lovely humps down the middle, at this point im tempted to launch off, but being my first run of the season, i held back and continue my cruise. I reach the bottom in no time, and all feelings of anxiety disappear and i feel in sync with my board once again.
Here are some screenshots that my friend took of me throughout the day. Also at the end....i did a little experimental video that i did with the go pro cam. Its my first time editing on a Macbook's iMovie, so pretty much i was still getting to know the program and learning how the cameras dif settings work.
and here is that video i did...once again, its nothing special yet

Nice...I dislocated my elbow at windham...
I need to get out soon. I gotta put my snowboard rack on my car.
East Coast stoke! Keep bringing it!
and howd u dislocate it? i usually hold off on the crazy stuff until spring time. Since the east coast practically gets no snow, i wait til late march/early April to attempt stunts, that way if i fall, ill land on something soft as opposed to the hardpack we get throughout the winter months
I hurt myself the way most do...one of those last runs of the day when the only thing left is ice. I can't remember which diamond run but it was icy and there was a freaking divet in the ice. My nose stuck in and I launched forward putting my arm out. Worst part I didn't even realize it was dislocated at first. I was on my knees holding my upper arm. My friend asked if I was alright and when I got up I realized I couldn't bend my left arm. I sat back down and said something was wrong...lol
Ski Patrol came, I couldn't lie down in the sled because it was hurting way way too bad. So I sat back to back with a buddy going down a bumpy icy hill while the snowblowers were blowing snow in my face. Got to the bottom, they rolled me onto some rollers like they have at the deli for boxes and slid me right into first aid. After the painful xrays they told me it was dislocated.
At this point I had options. Wait 2 hours for an ambulance and then another two to get to the hospital or they can try to put it back in there. So I said fuck it, you guys can try to put it back in since I didn't wanna wait. After 3 tries they got that sucker back in the joint with no pain medicine. They put me in a splint, gave me a script for percocet. So after a stop at the pharmacy, 3 percocets and two joints for the ride, I got home 3 hours later.
separated my shoulder at Windham last season in the lower terrain park. just fell off a rail and bang, popped my collar bone. i walked down the mountain and found a ski patrol dude. they offered to lay me out and roll me into the first aid unit (just like you described), but once i saw those rollers, i was like "nah, i'll walk."
don't know about you, but i got some pretty good treatment at windham. i'll always have the dreaded "hump" on my shoulder, but it's recovered pretty nicely since then.
know what you mean about that ride home, though. that sucked. big time.
