Default Killington 2/24-2/27

My little brother and I planned this trip about a month ago with 10 other friends and the week leading up to it we were so discouraged from reading about the icy conditions...until we woke up Thursday morning and checked the weather and were totally stoked. We rode all day Friday and Saturday and there are really just no words. Friday was just a total marathon with it dumping all day and no lift lines. Saturday was a lot more crowded but we got to spend a ton of time in the trees and were still able to find spots where it felt like we had the mountain to ourselves. Anyway, as far as Killington goes I know there are mountains in VT with much better reputations, but with as much snow as we got it was hard to go wrong. Perfect weekend. Heading to either Tahoe or NH second week of March. NJ is way too depressing right now.

That's awesome. You guys definitely lucked out.
Weekend prior was a nightmare with the mild weather turning back to sub freezing.

omg we totally got lucky! this is my first season so I've never ridden powder like that - I thought I was in love with snowboarding before, this weekend just sealed the deal.

Good timing with the weather! There is nothing worse than the no-snow frustration and nothing better than surprise pow! Once you go Pow, you never go back! Once you go west, you're moving out there! If I may offer a little say in your decision making process......if you have a few days to make the travel and a few extra bucks, GO TO TAHOE!!!! They've been getting killed and, quite frankly, there's no need to drive the extra hours to hit NH when you can just go to VT. Its all the same. NH is for Beaners!

Oh trust me if I could make Tahoe happen I absolutely would, but my friend I was supposed to go with had to back out and with no one to split lodging it would just be too expensive. As far as NH goes, I'm just tagging along on a friend's timeshare trip to Mittersill but will definitely be going back to VT, probably Stowe, as long as conditions don't deteriorate. I actually learned to ride on Snowmass so yea the itch to move out west is definitely there. My dilemma is I'm kind of stuck in NJ right now because I decided to go back to school full time and if I transferred out of state my GI Bill benefits may not cover the entire tuition/living expenses. I'm a little old to drop everything so just looking for the right opportunity. In the mean time I've been really lucky to be able to go as much as I have this season and have a few really awesome trips in the works for next winter (Aspen/J-Hole). Thanks for the input! Hope you're having a great season!

Did you "hike" up the catwalk? We were there Sunday and had a blast. So much snow, so few people. There was a moguls competition and kids were going nuts on them as we watched from the lift.

A few people from our group did the catwalk after we got split up on Saturday. Sunday sounds like it was a blast, I wanted to try to get at least a few hours in in the morning after we woke up to more snow but we had to get on the road

Killington was the best mountain we hit in 'hoe last week. Monday the 27th was decent. Pretty windy which helped whip some snow over the mountain. We mainly rode Sieke(sp) and The Wall. No lines to wait in on Monday, but the lifts are a bit slow to go up.

The following Wednesday was a mad powder day with white out conditions and fun as hell.

All in all, this is a great local mountain with so much variety with the crossovers, you could NEVER do the exact same run twice if you chose.

****EDIT****
omg i feel like an idiot. i meant Kirkwood in Tahoe area, not Killington. It's a 40 minute drive or so from South Lake, but totally worth it. it's amazing what painkillers for a bruised rib can do to your mind.
