Stuck at Stowe? - Snowboarding Forum

After one of the best days of riding ever on Friday (good today, but no bluebirds) it's about to get ugly up here. Or beautiful, all depends on your perspective. We were expecting that we might get rained out, now they've changed the forecast and issued a severe winter storm warning for tomorrow -- could get up to 16" here at Stowe by Monday! Woo-hoo! Glad I'm taking a four-day weekend! Come on up, but you may not be able to make it back home.

Wow I really wish I didn't have exams or I'd be up there in a heartbeat. Enjoy it!!

Oh well, it wasn't meant to be. They changed the forecast again; it started raining Saturday afternoon, but not until after a day of great Spring conditions. But then it rained all night, and rained HARD this morning. They changed the start-time of the snow until 1:00 pm, at which point the temps were supposed to plummet from upper 40's to low 20's...can you say "ice?" Then it was supposed to dump until Monday afternoon and the wind picking up to about 35mph, which would probably be a lot stronger up top. Also, it meant we'd likely be snowed in or trying to work our way back home -- nearly 4 hour drive in GOOD weather -- in a blizzard. So we bailed the rest of the weekend. Very sad. Going back in two weeks, though. Hopefully we won't get much more of this 45 shit before then!

bummer! sounds like you made the right call though. at least you had a good day friday, hopefully conditions will be better for you in 2 weeks. pretty sure I'll be at stowe first weekend of april. really sad about all of this rain...

Sounds like it really has dumped up there..2 more feet up top at Stowe and most of the state getting slammed, so if you had to be somewhere Tuesday you made the right call.

That's it...had to be back at work Tuesday. I took a 4-day weekend because my wife was at a biz conference up there...I figured I'd ride for 3-4 days while she was working. Didn't work out that way. Buy yeah, last report I saw from Stowe was that they got 2' already today and it was still dumping. Meh...who needs all that pow anyway. I'm a Vermont rider, dammit!

Or at least, that's how what I tell myself to keep from getting too bummed. I'm going back in 2 weeks. Hopefully some of it will still be there.
