First time on a mountain
I've been creeping around this forum for about a month now, just taking in the knowledge and some information from more experienced riders. This is actually my first season riding. I've always wanted to do it and finally this year I got my ass out there and did it. So a buddy and I planned a trip to Winter Park, CO this winter. I wasn't sure if I was going to be ready for it, seeing as I'm from Iowa and stuck in the Midwest with glorified bunny hills.
It was basically the best time I've ever had on a vacation. Maybe just the best 3 day period I've ever had. That shit is epic. We had beautiful weather the whole time. (40 degrees at the base) I made sure to take my Canon DSLR up, which I'm not very efficient with yet. My buddy carried it on his back as I wasn't comfortable putting 900 dollars worth of gear on my back and riding down 3000 ft or so from the summit. But I figured I'd share some pictures just in case anyone is bored. I honestly can't wait for this summer to be over now. Nice pics. Keep doing what your doing, because it just gets more fun the longer you've been riding.

First Time
Awesome pictures man. I picked up the board three years ago and Im in Stamford CT. From April - December every year I am just waiting for it to snow again... Keep up the shred, it only gets better as you tuck more tricks into your bag...

Stamford, CT? Where do you ride? I just moved to CT from Michigan and I am loving the looks of some of these hills. I don't really know where to ride tho...any suggestions?

Looks like an awesome time. I can't wait to get back to Colorado.
What kind of DSLR are you using? You said you are new with it right? The pics could be a little sharper. Obviously the action shot of your buddy is a bit more advanced (I could give you some tips on how to try and make them sharp) but the stationary ones could be sharper. For example, the first two shots of your buddy and the board if you take it off auto, manually select the left focus point it would make the subjects sharp. On Auto the camera is just going to guess what to focus on. Alternatively you can just select the middle point (what I do mostly), point it at your buddy/board, hold it down halfway so it focuses, then recompose (so they're not in the middle of the frame) and fire off. In any event, looks like an awesome time. I am hooked and have thought about going back every day since the season ended. |
