Mt. Hood HCSC 2011

Just returned from a trip to High Cascade Snowboard Camp with some of my buddies. All I have to say is... WOW! They had the most snow they'd had in years, and both timberline and palmer lifts were open (no hiking :P). There was something like a 50 inch base at the top of timberline, which was hugely impressive, especially for July 1st. Riding in the summer is just epic: 50 degrees+, barely a cloud, perfect (though it did rain a few days during the week, no matter, it ended well). I saw many people hiking to the true top of the mountain, but the camp wouldn't let me. I only wish I could have stayed to get a glimpse of Government Camp from the top... Anyways, save that for another trip. Here are some photos of the private camp park, terrain, etc. Boy just being there made me want to move the the PNW. Enjoy!

oh and also, just for bragging rights....

P.S. High Cascade really was amazing. They're great at what they do: Coaching snowboarding, providing perfect opportunities to improve your riding, building a perfect terrain park, giving access to endless off hill activities, and the list goes on and on. The signature session "Friends Crew" was legendary. There are just too many things to post here, I could go on for days. Authorized Awesome!

Windell's and High Cascade are two separate camps with separate parks on the mountain. I was going to get some riding in today but feeling a bit sick so i just slept haha. Looks like you had a blast!

Ive never been to either one, but HCSC is snowboarders only so that would be my choice. Windell's is snowboard and ski. I've heard Windell's runs a better park, but again, I've never been to either one.

Oh yeah!? Well, my mom says I'm cool!

I've been to both, and HCSC is exponentially better. First off, it's closer to the lifts than windells, and also, no skiiers. The park was SICK at HCSC and to my knowledge all of the counselors and coaches preferred it to windells' park. I just plain had more fun at HCSC. Windells feels like a concentration camp compared to HCSC, which is conveniently located right in government camp. FINALLY... cobra dogs do not exist at windells.

My son is at hcsc right now. We drive him up from tx each year. Im camped at Yale lake in Washington and we are gonna pick him up Wednesday. We ha e gone through both parks and base camps for high cascade and windells. High cascade is 10x better. It costs just a tad more but there is so much more to the experience at high cascade. Their private snowboard only park is great... anyone and there 3 brothers can cruiise through windells park.... glad you had fun. I will continue to send my son every year, he is 11.

I just drop him off and use it as an excuse to drive cross country and camp all over the place.
