Default Wolf Creek 10-15-11

Rode at Wolf Creek today for the first day of the season. Conditions were good/ok/sticky. All the cat tracks sucked. None of them had any speed and had to unstrap several times to be able to make it all the way. Made the hike to Alberta Peak and dropped off there for the only chance of pow that could still be there. Was kinda nice riding on something soft. Ended up going down Bankshot and it took us about 30 minutes to make down. Heavy, sticky, and deep was everywhere in the tree trails. Made for some very difficult traverses. Only saw two other people on the Alberta lift. I don't blame em. The trails were terrible. Other than that it was a successful day in the middle of October. I forgot how out of shape I really was...

Hey man I was there this last weekend as well. I was going to make my own thread, but there is no need now. Your review is about exactly what I had to say. Ill just add my impressions onto your thread.

I rode wolf creek this weekend, ended up getting there around 9:30 am sat morning. I would actually call the conditions good, considering the date. The front 3 lifts all had fun conditions, the rocks and such were mostly covered if you were smart about it. There was a few slight pow/slush stashes that were lift accessible, but again the pow was very sticky because of the temperature. It was t-shirt riding weather, I had a hoodie on and it was still a little warm. Me and my buds hiked to Alberta peak as well, this is where we got in some fresh turns that was really fun. The main problem is after the hike we kept going and ended up on the backside. Due to the stickyness of the snow there was no possible way to ride the backside repeatedly without having to hike to the lift. After getting in some nice fresh turns coming down the peak, going to the backside was insanity. We were forced to jump several creeks, and dodge insane obstacles the whole way down. I had never ridden in such conditions, and actually had fun doing so, even though we actually had to hike to get to the bottom where the lift is.

Overall was a fun time, and a great warmup to start the season with, nice rollers to pop off of, a few random kickers to spin off, some bumps to practice on, and lots of choppy terrain to fly through. I'm, not sure if I would go next weekend or not, due to the temps and rapid melting of the snow I witnessed. But if I lived really close to it, I would probably be up there again to check it out.
