My latest trip up to Nozawa Onsen. Powder fest. Just amazing but it almost never stopped snowing for 3 days and the roads on the way home were sketchy.

Day one was like 50cm of fresh on a firm base layer. Wonderful conditions for cruising through the woods and sidecountry.
Had some fantastic runs through amazing lines without a single sign that anyone had passed that way before.

Day two brought 80cm of fresh and was fantastic. Every run on every slope had at least 20cm of fresh on top of the corduroy.

Day 3 brought another 60cm. Just ridiculous Powder. My 161 Volkl did well but I am thinking about getting a full on powder board for these occasions.

Here is a short vid and some pics. Most of the time the snow was falling so much we just couldn't get the camera out.

Whats worse is that next week will be in the 50's and 60's. WTF!

Thats insane amounts of pow. Definately get yourself a pow board, you wont regret that.

Nice nice, we just got 70cm last night here at Hakkoda. Japan is back to getting a pounding. Tuesday is supposed to just be unrelenting here. like over 100cms in one night.

Sick stuff dreampow. I've always been itching to go to Nagano. Have you been to Hakuba this season yet?

edit: Dreampow, every person in Japan should have a dedicated powstick!!

I am starting to feel thats the way to go. The 161 Volkl handles very well as I am 175lbs and its semi wide. Having said that its not a real pow stick and if this season and last season are anything to go by it would be a sound investment.

I have a season pass for Nozawa so thats where I board. I really like it there a lot and have been to quite a few other spots including Hakuba.

We have been getting dumped on the last couple of days in Hakuba (make that actually over the last week and a half), condtions are excellent here at the moment. The sun is shining today. You really can't go wrong around the Nagano area at the moment.

A few Cortina days last week were just amazing. We had some guests staying at my lodge who have done over 200 powder days of skiing and called it their best and deepest days of powder in Cortina on Saturday.
