Trip out west - Snowboarding Forum

So I have to go out to Cali for business the week of the Dec 18th. I know the conditions anywhere that early wont be as good as say Jan or Feb but I can go anywhere on the way back. So my questions is should I go to Jackson hole, Tahoe, or Utah. Who will have the best riding? It's also important to me not to have to worry about a rental car. So places where you can land and get shuttles or others transportaition to and from the mountain would be awesome. Thanks in advance!

What streetdoc said, Tahoe got a HUGE storm last weekend, i was going to go myself but there were road closures and wind shut downs, but after the storm passes it should be pretty sweet, Sierra-at-Tahoe got like 55".

oh wow so Tahoe seems to be the best option. What about travel? I guess I would fly from LAX up to Reno. But are there any shuttles from reno to the mountains and around town once you get there?

This. Opening all lifts and trails this Fri. Already 113" of snow fall this season at the base at main lodge (almost half of last season's crappy total of 263"), and usually get 20+% more snow on top. The 18.5 foot tall sign post on the top is almost covered- about 4 feet remains uncovered.

It'll probably easier to access Tahoe and Utah, but these are easily the best current conditions in the west for sure.

My brother in law and I are going to tahoe from Dec 15-22 and flying into reno. This is the best bus/shuttle option we have found to get to our hotel in Stateline:

South Tahoe Express| Reno Tahoe Shuttle|Reno Tahoe Airport

Once there they have busses that go around town.

There are also busses that leave a few days a week to go to other mountains in the area like Kirkwood, Northstar, Mt. Rose and Squaw Valley:

Mammoth. They are opening the entire mountain today. 100% open, and that's a lot of terrain. I was there last weekend for the storm and they got dumped on. On-mountain lodging is cheap if you do the packages.
