Default Mayrhofen-Austria Apr 2013 SNOWBOMBING!

Hey guys,

Just a quick review on my experience of Mayrhofen's end of season Festival/Snowboarding trip.

Conditions: I have always associated end of season with being slushy and non prime riding conditions. NOT THIS TIME! The day before we arrived it snowed hard 10+cm so when we got to riding on the first morning the powder was incredible! Glorious mix of sunny days and a bit of snow kept the conditions pretty nice throughout the week. It did get very slushy one day in extreme sun when you got too low down but was sunny

Ski Area: Pro's: Really good mix of long/short runs, very wide and varied mix of runs to test all skill levels, good off piste to be found either through short hikes or through longer treks, easily visible the entire time. Contains the Harakiri which is both great to watch and great to ride. Steepest Pisted run in Europe, you fall on this and you are sliding all the way down... theres a bar at the bottom of the run where you can sit and watch people fall!

Con's: Fairly slow lift's and you have to get a 10-15min lift up from the town to the ski area in the mornings which is a bit of a bummer

Park: I'm not heavy in to park but it looked very good and well looked after, huge talent out during the festival, I'm sure there must have been a couple of pro's.

Overall, absolutely loved it, Apres was epic and so was the festival, really worth a shout if you love the snowboard/apres mix.

I was in Mayrhofen just the week before SnowBombing and spent a good bit of time in the park, and can therefore add that the Vans Penken Park is AWSM!!!!

Great selection of all sizes of kickers and boxes/rails, from the pro line to the newbs.

And when you need refreshments there was nothing more enjoyable than sitting down at outdoor restaurant and watching the pro's drop into the pro line rollers

When have you been there? I've been to Kaltenbach (also Zillertal) with a couple of friends last week. It was awesome. We had a mix of sun and fresh new pow as well. Pretty stoked on the conditions at that time in the year.
