I have 14/15 Hovercraft in 156, and thinking of getting Derby in 147. I'm not sure if this will be considered as an upgrade for me for tree riding.

Is it safe to use sample boots?

The shop sales man said there shouldn't be any problem.

But the tag of the boots say that this is a sample boot and cannot be warrantable for any faults, etc...

I can't make up my mind between 157 and 160 for a Jones Mountain Twin.

I'm around 165-170 pounds, 5'10", and wear US10.5 boots.

I'll be using this deck as an all mountain board to muck around...

I don't think you will need a wide board. I'm 10.5 and rode Revolver before and it was too hard to turn, and I never had problem with drags on Evo.
