Flagging option. - Snowboarding Forum

I think the site could use a flagging option. You know so if someone like 'kster' posts something stupid then members could flag the post/thread and after enough members flag said post, it would be locked or deleted. I think it would help out the mods. It would also keep the site clean when mods aren't online.
The flag option wouldn't be available to everyone though.

This may already exist though...

I agree that's a really good idea.

Has anyone ever ran the IP addresses of people who post stuff like kster, I'm wondering if there are jaded ex-members, multiple spammers, etc.

I'm assuming the ban is an IP ban, but there are ways to tell if it's coming from the same area.

This is the first forum I've ever had problems with spammers on. Since I've been a member here (about 2 or so weeks) I've had to run my virus scan twice and I've seen countless scam/spam attempts. I wonder if it has something to do with the sign up process where there isn't a security image to type in (instead is tell us to type "board").

Yeah I think they need to step up security here. I'm sure a captcha image would go a long way.
The mods do a good job taking care of kids like kster and the 'Apple iphone, Blackberry, Macbook For Sale At www.mycrappyscam.com!!!!!!' kids though.

They have the button under the posters name where you can report the post, but yeah the flag thing would work better when admins arent online.

I looked on the vBulletin forum but there is no way to allow user flagging (like on CL) right now. Apparently the idea was brought up in 2005!!! but they haven't implemented anything yet. I'm going to have to agree with Zee here and say more mods are needed to help control all this crap.

Why not just continue hitting the report post button?

I'm not sure, but what exactly does the flagging option allow? What would stop people like kster have to multiple accounts to flag a post and then closing it?

Sorry guys, NZ is our usual overnight guy and evidently he wasn't around. Fortunately I can ban a person and remove all of their posts with two clicks. Dude really had some issues didn't he?
