Yeah, got him. Not sure if that one slipped through the approval process or just signed up before we implemented this. This is a work in progress of course and we'll see if they figure out a way to get around it.

I don't plan on doing it forever.

Wolfy I posted some tips in the mod lounge about a few things I have already found out on these guys.

Unfortunately I think a few will slip through from time to time. They are tricky little bastards. Probably more than 90% of their attempts will be thwarted though.

Also MPD, there is no time frame on when we have to approve accounts. I am going to try to keep it up to date during the week, but Weekends and such, they'll have to wait until Monday. It does feel good to ban these guys before they even get started...

I would definitely say the amount of spammers trying to get an account has already dropped since we changed this yesterday. I don't think it's anything that Wolfy, Admin, and myself can't handle.

good luck I hope it works! for some reason, spammers love snowboarding I guess. I have two blogs/websites, my snowboarding blog gets like 5x as much spam as the other one, on a fraction of the traffic. I don't understand, but fortunately wordpress has some good anti-spam plugins.

Just a heads up. We had a crap load of people sign up over the weekend. I identified seven spammers and they got the axe. Still there were another half dozen or so that looked questionable so we may see a few spam posts pop up. Please flag them so we can ban and remove the posts quickly.

Just a reminder guys. We are manually approving accounts to cut down on the spammers but a few get through here and there. Please report these douches so we can ban them and remove their posts.
