Photo Contest? - Snowboarding Forum

Hey guys,

I've been through a few other random forums and I've noticed a lot of them are big on photo contests and the such... None of them really have prizes or anything but they do seem really fun and simple to organize. So I figured with something like snowboarding which now-a-days has a lot of emphasis on pictures and videos and the such... I dunno wouldn't mind some feedback and maybe we could talk to the admins about a sticky... But my idea would be throw out a random theme like: rails, powder, air, stuff like that then, everyone who posts I will copy their images to a new thread with no names on them so everyone could vote anonymously.... Sounds more ambiguous than it is....

Photo Contest:

Create Theme
Members Take Their Pictures
Members Post Them To Contest Thread
Once Submissions Are Closed We Take The Photos Into a New Thread
Post Them With No Names
Close The Submission Thread So No One Can See Who Posted What
Give Members 2 Weeks or So To Cast a Single Vote
Name Winner...

I dunno just thought it could be a fun idea...

too bad the forum is running on the new framework or we could have ribbons...

Another cool idea would be like trick challenges or something which people could just challenge people and have others vote on the photo or video and elect a winner that way...

Hope someone else finds this idea interesting... Maybe even an admin

The only thing I'm having a problem with is it would kinda need it's own subject thing you know?!?! Too keep it separated from the other threads...

were you thinking snowboarding pics or unrelated stuff? cuz it you were thinkinf snowboarding i think you should do a pow shot contest

Why do I feel like there's gonna be a bias towards the west coast with the pow pics? lol

It's not like car photos or such. Maybe pics of jibs or street sessions. I don't think I'll ever enter but I'd like to see some shots. I don't think people will be as interested on small mountain shots but who knows.

I don't think there's enough photos in the photo thread either. Maybe a seperate photo/video section instead of a sticky?

Great idea. If the mods want to get on board with this and sticky/announce this it would be awesome. If any help is needed creating rules or anything I would be happy to help!

Well I was thinking rules would be simple; photo would obviously have to of been taken or be of you, with only minor photo editing (maybe some color enhancements allowed for effects and such)

I was thinking for the themes to try and alternate every session between the kind of "west coast big mountain pow/backcountry" oriented stuff to "jibbing and street" oriented stuff that way it's not too biased.

I personally always found these photo contests an interesting way to get people to try new and different things... IMO anyways... anywho maybe I'll look into setting up a thread tomorrow and see what happens in 2 weeks lol I can see there being only two or three pictures... unless of course snowolf and snowman get involved haha... I also realize it is hard to take a picture of yourself snowboarding and have it turn out exactly how you want it too, which is why I think photos of your friends would be allowed, and slight editing...

The only east coast pow picture possible would be a white kid flipping you off with a tv set on a show about Colorado in the background.....

Personally how about a contest about my newest ice scars -.-
