itd be cool if we could make a sticker thats a little less conspicuous too. I like the designs but they're big and a bit much..id like something smaller to put on my helmet/board/car window thats not so massive.
Agree with you that it's a little plain, but I figured something like this position was universal, good for weekend warriors to hardcore shredders, park/freestyle to free ride, etc. Not that folks won't go for it because they'd never do a method, but you know what I'm saying.
A Method is a pretty basic trick. Not really advanced at all, plus it just epitomizes snowboard style. If you can do them or not. Just sayin'. It's your effort of course. If I was the one drawing, it would look like anything but a snowboarder doing a method...
Just had a quick play in the editor today and thought I'd see if it sparks any interest here. Just throwing some ideas out there for more of a logo type vinyl. If anything, I think the snowboarder silhouette from these is a little better than some of the ones being used.
I do some graphic design work on the side, if I have time I'll definitely get something in illustrator or photoshop.
I also really like panhandlers designs. I too would go minimalistic, less colors keeps cost down.
Might I suggest a logo contest?
I'm reviving this thread in hopes that we can actually get some stickers going. I'm inspired by shreddit where I'm also active and one of the guys there just produced some nice vinyl stickers that are appearing on cars and boards. I'd love to have one for this place too. In any case, here's my design contribution to hopefully help get things restarted:
Anyhow, I won't be too bothered if everyone hates my design, I'm just hoping to at least get the ball rolling again and possibly settle on something.
Looked into this again...the problem with a design that's mostly text is that after the vinyl is cut, the cutter has to pick out all the extra vinyl bits between the letters (called "weeding") and they wanted to charge me an unreasonable amount of money to do it. The ways to go are a) to do a design that minimizes the weeding so they don't charge so much, or b) make it more like a printed sticker, with a solid background piece and the graphics printed on top of it. To me, the latter looks "cheap", whether it's on cars or boards or helmets or whatever.
So I'll change up the design I sent in to see if I can get around that extra charge, as the initial price quoted was decent. Back to the drawing board...
Yeah, I envisioned this as a rounded-rectangle printed sticker (sorry, I'm cheap)
Here's another idea also:
This I would envision as a die-cut with a white border and no weeding. If this image looks familiar, it is a modified and vectorized version of Cr0_Reps_Smit's switch back 540.
You can forego the weedings and just let people pick them out themselves. ir you can do it once you recieve the batch. Either way it isnt a MUST DO thing. i dont mind picking them out. it takers maybe 20 seconds per sticker.
Knocked this together in Illustrator... straight-up Method. I took a nod from Panhandler's vertical ".COM". Not super happy with the hat/goggles/face, but if there is interest, I could work on the concept more.
Ha-ha... guess that shows that I don't ride in the park.
I looked on an illustrated grab diagram (after I drew it of course) and it showed a rear hand, toe-side grab, biased toward the rear binding is an Indy.
Nomenclature aside, maybe I'll try a few more variations. I won't try and name them though...
Here is my contribution, I thought a QR code for it would be cool.
However, it lacks an actual snownboarder in it.
I also used Panhandlers sideways ".com," it definitely helps connect both designs I've seen that use it.
Just something I was messing around with before my PS trial ended. Never did get a chance to tweak it so not the best, but I like the concept. I do still have the PS file if anyone wants to mess with it
I really like it, the treeline in the letters is awesome. I think it would have to be a cut sticker, into a triangle or something.
If we actually put up a store would the members have to do it themselves, or could the website set it up and 86 the cafepress.
Not feeling any of the last few designs. They need some refinement. Different fonts that don't make it look like a family restaurant advertisement pamphlet would help
Well whoever is getting them made has the ultimate say on what design i would think. Im not voting for one because i would have a clear bias for the designs i created hahaha
