Can we get a longer time limit on editing? - Snowboarding Forum

I don't even know if this is possible for you guys to change but -

Would it be possible for there to be a longer time limit for when we edit our own posts for it to say

I know this isn't important at all but it kind of bugs me. I feel like I always need to edit a submission I made about 20 seconds after. As I do I always get that stupid line under my post. Maybe I should just re-read my posts instead of correcting errors after I submit.

Either way, figured I'd ask

I like the idea too. Knowing that im not the best at putting thought into typed sentences, I find myself editing almost every other post right after I submit! 5 mins would probably do it for me but 15 mins I could see being useful for mobile users especially.

Do you mind if I ask,.. Why does the "last edited" line bother you? Is there something you feel it says about your post? Some negative impression you believe it implies when it announces you've edited your submission?

I'm not raggin' or being sarcastic. I'm just genuinely curious cuz I never even thought about it. It's there, it's not there, I barely notice it on my own post's, I can't recall if I've Ever noticed it on anyone else's.

When I edit a post and it shows the little box, it makes me feel like people think I changed my mind after reading other comments, which is never the case. I just edit when I notice grammatical errors.

Yeah, I get that. It makes me feel shifty even if I didn't change the content.

I might be completely off here, but I'm pretty sure it won't say "edited" if you make changes before somebody else has viewed your post. I've made some trip reports and added photo posts and then edited them later without them saying "edited".

Here's a trick I do if I'm changing something more than 30 seconds after I originally posted...

Type "edit:" and then say what you meant to say.

edit: Just testing my theory here. It probably won't say "edited" yet because nobody's looked at the page yet.

Oh fair enough! I was on a forum years ago that wouldn't show anything was "edited" if you changed it before someone read it. Made sense as once even one person has read the post it should note somewhere that it's been changed.

I think it is fine the way it is. Edited is edited, whether it was to change the substance of the post or to fix typos - I think both should trigger the 'edited' tag. Plus you have the option to state the reasons for editing.
