I still say Earth would be best... simple yet sophisticated. Oxymoron? I'm not really sure.

boarderholic aka bumpaholic

as said, if people dig a forum their additions will sustain them.

i wonder if there is a tool like that used on the polls, that closes the poll after x number of days?

granted it would require a few more lines of 'code', but if someone makes a regional (or any) thread folder, it could remain (if requested) as a sticky.

if this sticky could be removed, thus demoting the thread to just a normal thread able to fall off the bottom, after x number of days of no new posts, you would have an autonomous forum framework.

bumpers start your engines!!

i have to agree with paolo. look at the regional forums in sb.com. there are a couple that are strong but some that have nothing in them or no people posting in them for a long time. using the western canada as a example, because its the only one i read, the only thread that gets any action is the edmonton one and every few days someone might post in the i<3 western canada thread but there is nothing happening anywere else there. do we need a forum devoted to western canada? me thinks not. just sticky topics that get lots of action.

I think regional is best. It just makes sense for the growth of a community. To do it on a case by case basis you will endup with low hit forums. Make it basic, make it easy, new members want simpleness.
simple is good,. one thing i really like about this site is the simplicity, it should be kept that way. thats why we don't need a lot of regional forums because they wont get used. keep it simple at first maybe just 4 north America, Europe, Asia/Australia, south America, something like that. let people make individual threads about areas in each of them.

also ever since my hair started running away on me, never to return, i knew hair stylists were way over rated and there services useless.

I think it should be by the country/region. That way people can get better info for their spicific region. Like, NH people want to know about NH. But NH isn't that big here.
